We came here twice during our stay, doing lunch and dinner on seperate occasions and both were certainly memorable! The atmosphere here is gorgeous!! With a beautifully laid out bar with all the trimmings, in dark wood that reminded me of the old traditional City of London pubs. Lunchtime is full of noise, buzz and laughter, from the staff dashing around, to the tables of locals, all getting together to do what the Spanish are good at.. Enjoying good company with good food and drink. It’s a brilliant place to people watch!! For Lunch, we both went for the Mediterranean Salad which included generous chunks of Tuna. We were going to go for a plate each, but were warned that One plate between us would be enough, but if we needed more, they would oblige. They were spot on, it was just right and anymore would be a waste as we couldn’t have finished it. It was brilliant. Nicely chilled with a light dressing that refreshed in a way I’ve not experienced before. Our evening trip was eventful !! One thing to remember is that they close late afternoon and open again at 8pm. I did expect a rush at that time, but it was fine and tables were available through our time there. This time, we both went for the cod in vegetable and cheese sauce, sitting on slices of potato. There was plenty there and the cod had been slightly undercooked, but still easy to separate. I liked this. None of the flavour was lost. I finished off with a nougat ice cream. The service once again was brilliant and a lovely experience. Unfortunately, as we were leaving, my wife succumbed to heat exhaustion (you just can’t be too careful) and needed to be taken to Hospital. I need to make it clear, this was nothing to do with the service or food or anything that La Bodega did. She just overdid it, but grateful thanks to the amazing collection of professional medics, who just happened to be walking by at the time!! Alls well now. Well done La Bodega we hope to...
Read moreThe review in brackets was written a year ago. We went back last night and our views have changed. Read review below. (Been here twice so far. Food outstanding as is the value for money. Every dish we've had so far has been superb. We have been again since writing the review. I can really recommend the monkfish and prawn skewer. The nougat ice-cream with PX poured over it is something else.) The above was written a year ago, we went back here last night and the only word to describe our experience is awful. Firstly the waiter was rude and unprofessional. He got our drink order wrong, virtually threw my meal down on the table. My meal was rank ! The meat was tough, chips were cold. My partner had the pork with whisky sauce that didn't taste of whisky. The food being served to the Spainish speaking customers seemed to be of a higher standard than ours. I cannot now recommend this place. It has gone downhill since our last visits and I believe is now a tourist trap serving poor food to tourists whilst serving locals...
Read moreThe restaurant was very busy. We didn't have a table and sat at the bar first. Make sure you ask to be put on the waiting list, if you want a table to sit down. With our poor Spanish level, we had to rely on the help from a friendly caballero next to us at the bar.
There are two different menus, the bar menu and the table menu. We didn't realise that until almost finished eating. There are a lot more options on the table menu, for apparent reasons. But if you are happy to stand and don't mind the menu choices, this shouldn't matter much.
The staff were very friendly, and helpful. Although very busy, they seemed to be quite happy and have a lot of energy.
Maybe because all the other reviews out there have artificially heightened our expectations too much. I have to say the foods we had were very good, but not amazing, lacking some "wow factors". However I would choose this one for tapas over most of the restaurants out there in Seville.
All in all, good tapas...
