Well located tapas bar with outside seating area and delicious food. Portions were very small for tapas, not worth it, go for the plates if you want better value for money. The only thing that ruined the experience for me was that the menu contains allergy information but it's so inaccurate that's unbelievable and the waiters don't know anything about food allergies, they don't even speak English! I ordered some beef dish (number 15 on the menu) that did not have the number 1 next to it that would indicate that it contains gluten. When it got served I could tell straight away that it contains gluten as it was wrapped in pastry and deep fried. I asked the waiter and that was the point when he admitted that he doesn't speak English (only some real basic words). Another guest saw our struggle and helped with translation. The waiter kept saying that the dish might be gluten free if they used fresh oil to fry it in, which shows he had no clue that the pastry coating contained gluten to start with. He then argued that he couldn't have known that what I ordered needs to be gluten free as I was the only one with food allergy from our group of 4. If you mark items on your menu that are gluten free or don't indicate that they contain gluten than those are expected to be gluten free regardless of who eats them. Not to mention that I asked him about gluten free before we set down and he showed and explained with his basic English that items on the menu with (1) next to them contain gluten, the rest don't. After this one this I got worried and started questioning the rest of the items we ordered, as I could no longer trust what was gluten free and what wasn't. It was distressing, especially when you have a waiter who has no idea about food allergies, who doesn't speak English, and who thinks he is right. This person should not work as a waiter. Upon checking the menu again we discovered that the English side of the menu for this specific item (number 15 on the menu) doesn't indicate gluten, however turning to the Spanish side of the menu the same item (number 15) indicates it contains gluten. So a very important allergy information got "lost" in translation! Checking the menu further we discovered a number of other discrepancies between the Spanish and English menu in terms of allergy information, items 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,9,13,14,15,16,31,36 contain different allergy information on the English menu compared to the Spanish one. This is an extremely careless thing to do! If the restaurant doesn't take food allergies seriously that's fine, but than they shouldn't be issuing a menu that indicates they are aware and care about allergies. I would like to warn anyone with food allergy to AVOID this place as you cannot trust what they put in front of you. It is a real shame as the food itself was really tasty actually, although very small tapas portions (cold cuts and cheese boards ordered as tapas barely have a few little slices on them, which definitely feels like a rip off). And there was no remorse from the waiter whatsoever, if anything he was upset with me asking questions about gluten. He should not be working with...
Read moreI feel terrible to write this review after a very long while, because I couldn't remember the name of the place until I looked at my photos after a 4month travel.
My partner and I are from Hong Kong🇭🇰 we visited Casa Manolo in September without any research. The wide range of choices made me delighted as a tapas lover! We ordered 5 tapas and few cold beers after a long walk, which was a great rest in the busy plaza! I love their fried seafood and my partner love their meat dishes, nothing fancy but traditional and delicious.
I was especially impressed by Dario, who patiently served and talked to us knowing that we wanted to practise our Spanish, gave us recommendations and treated us some shots! (He also corrected our grammar 😂) We felt very welcomed by his hospitality.
Its a pity that we only had one meal here, as the place gets busy around evening and we didnt have much time in Sevilla, but definitely...
