Decided to try this restaurant for a quick bite, granted it’s not at all a traditional Spanish spot but the reviews looked good enough for a simple breakfast. My wife ordered the scrambled eggs which was okay, but not great value for money considering it was overcooked and filled with too many ingredients (bordering on being an omlette instead).
I ordered the tostada del dia, which was a salmon bagel containing burrata, avocado and rocket. However, within 30 mins I started getting sharp pains in my stomach and felt very unwell. I spent the rest of the day in bed, feeling nauseous, fatigued and throwing up.
I don’t know if it was just my luck, but in hindsight I have seen a few reviews referencing undercooked chicken and old (spoilt) milk, so maybe it was inevitable and the establishment needs to review its food safety practices.
Edit: In response to the establishment. Whilst I appreciate your response, I am disappointed that instead of conducting a review of your processes or looking in to the matter, you felt the need to deny any possibility of contaminated food and instead chose to point out why I may be wrong. Therefore, I believe I need to correct you on an important point about food poisoning symptoms and how long they take to showcase. As I said, my symptoms started within 30 mins of consuming the salmon bagel, but I felt ill for the rest of the day.
Please refer to John Hopkins Medicine’s (leading health system and academic institution in the U.S) own information on the subject below -
“The time it takes food poisoning symptoms to start can vary. Illness often starts in about 1 to 3 days. But symptoms can start any time from 30 minutes to 3 weeks after eating contaminated food. The length of time depends on the type of bacteria or virus causing the illness.
Each person’s symptoms may vary. Symptoms can range from very mild to very serious. They can last from a few hours to...
Read moreAiming towards a place we'd already been to, we fell on this place as my wife was desperate for salad !! Stepping into the cosy cool interior was a joy, and it all looked so nice. I wondered if the menu looked a bit sparse when it came to making a choice, but actually, for me, that was fine. I could have spent ages trying to make my mind up!! Drink-wise, Linda had water, and I went for the special Cider. I do love cider, but it seems to be rare over here. Price is a bit steep, but when you compare it to the silly prices, we can pay for craft beer at home, it was OK. Taste? Well, it's not Aspalls, but it was fine, but very different (it was French). To eat, I had the Cesar Salad, and Linda had the Earth Bowl, which consisted of salad with Falafels and various extras. My cesar salad had plenty of chicken in it along with croutons and extras. (Linda did mention to me that this was a vegetarian restaurant, so it wouldn't be real chicken!! How pleased I was that she was wrong!! (Its not purely veggie!!) It was a good portion as well and left both of us well satisfied. One or two reviews had mentioned the pricing, but to be honest, I thought it wasn't that bad compared to what we'd experienced so far in Seville. Although I didn't confirm it, I feel sure that Vegans would be well catered for here, but best...
Read moreAs I am a big proponent of organic food, I was excited to find this restaurant and give it a try for lunch. I was looking for a table, there were quite a few about, the waiter said "no more brunch", when I said I was there for lunch, he took me down to a little table down the back. I find it interesting that when you eat solo, you either get a really nice table and a restaurant that doesn't make you feel like a pariah, or you get the cheap seats near the toilet. I looked at the online menu and then waited, another couple were put at the table next to me and quickly moved for "more privacy", then another solo traveller arrived. The waiter then moved to serve her first, as I had been waiting for some time, I asked to order, he said "only if you are very hungry or in a hurry". Whilst waiting for the food, in what is a very nice restaurant, it was spoilt by this waiter running around, his voice booming and not achieving terribly much. When he left on a break, the place was so much better.
The food is good, I wouldn't say very good, but the fact that it is organic gets a tick from me.
The service is definitely in need of a shake up, it is annoying to see people standing about when guests...
