If you are willing to sacrifice comfort and pay for an overpriced room for a good location, this is the place to stay. The pictures as shown in the Hotel Murillo website are not even close to what I got as a solo travel for an individual room located by the reception area, using my visa points equivalent to 250.00 CAD/night. The first time I used the toilet after checking in, it was already been used by someone else who didn't flushed it. As dirty as if someone had the stomach flu. I complained but they asked for a picture, which I didn't take, it was disgusting enough just by lifting the lid. The so called tv in your room is a monitor without any possibility even to mirror or connect in any way with your phone, which would have been great way to relax after the long walks through the city. The view from my window in my room was of pipes, pumps, and a very tall wall that wouldn't let you even see the sky. The corridor where these 5 or 6 rooms are located is very trafficked even late at night, without any signs asking the other guests to be quiet or the staff (right in front of this corridor) asking the people to respect the other guests due to the late hour. It was definitely a very noisy area and not good if you are trying to sleep for your next day adventure or a very early check out. I used my earplugs, but was worried all the time that I would miss my wake up alarm to take my train, so I decided to accept my faith and try to sleep through the noise. Even the "side" tables fixed to the wall are far from the very small bed. I asked for a change of room from the beginning, but the were fully booked and explained to me that those were the individual ones, although I paid for a much better room based on their current rates. They didn't even try to keep a happy customer or compensate in any way, maybe by offering a 13,00 Euros breakfast or even a drink! The advertisement uses the adjective "luxury" but those rooms are far from that. In mine, I didn't even get facial tissues or body lotion. I would have understood the characteristics of these accommodations had they been sold as basic or austere and for a much lower rate, not the 250.00/CAD/night. I was definitely not appreciated as a guest. They do have other nearby locations: Suites and apartments, which is probably what they show on their website, my room was definitely not there or one of those, so beware of this situation if you're planning to stay in Hotel Murillo and booking an individual room. Read moreThe Hotel Murillo is a very, very old hotel that is not being maintained. You can tell that many years ago, it was probably a luxurious place to stay, but those days are long gone. I got a double room for the 2 of us and it was tiny. The bathroom was also very small. Do not get a room on the street as it will be noisy, even with the windows closed. In April, the AC wasn’t turned on yet so we needed to open the windows to be comfortable at night. We would have been much better off spending a little more to get a 3 or 4 star hotel. If you can’t afford that though, then the Murillo might be the place for you. See below for my positive comments. Also, do NOT get the breakfast, even at $10 per person, it is not worth it. There was nothing edible and you are in the stuffy basement. To get the discounted rate of $10, you need to pay for the breakfast at check in. I paid and tried to eat there one morning … after almost getting sick, I left and took my wife somewhere decent. I wasted the $60. You can go to the cafe just outside the hotel and get a much better breakfast for less than $10 per person. As a bonus, the hotel Wi-Fi works at that cafe better than in the basement of the hotel! So on the positive side, the hotel seemed to be clean, despite being very old and worn out. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. They switched us to an inside courtyard room after the first night, so that we could open the window and not have the noise from the street. The bed was okay .. not the most comfortable I’ve ever had, but not the worst either. The location of the hotel is fantastic if you are able to walk without assistance. It is in the old part of the city with very narrow alleys. Most of these streets cars can’t come down, so taxis will have to drop you off and you take your luggage over the cobblestones for about a 5 minute walk to the hotel. The neighborhood is safe and clean, with a vibrant atmosphere. Bottom line, if the Murillo is all you can afford, then it will be a safe, clean place you can get a decent night sleep, but you will want to spend as little time in the hotel as possible because it is so small. The next time we are in Seville though, I will splurge on...
Read moreThe pictures and 5-star reviews don't reflect what I got as a solo travel. The room didn't even provide facial tissues. The toilet was dirty as if someone had just gone with the stomach flu. The bed was so small that I had to move it closer to one of the side tables fixed to the wall. They have a small monitor that is your TV, and which doesn't connect to any app that you may want to enjoy after a long day walking. The only window in the room showcased pipes, a pump, water lines and a very tall wall. I couldn't even see the sky. The room was very noisy and there were no signs to ask the other guests to be quiet when passing through the corridor leading to those four or five, individual rooms. This wasn't a $250.00 CAD/night room. It looked more like a low budget pension or hostel. I saw there were Murillo apartments and a few steps ahead, Murillo Suites. These rooms were definitely the lowest kind they had and way overpriced. I complained about the toilet being dirty when I first got the room, also asked to be moved to a different one and didn't get anything to compensate, other than they were really sorry. These were the worst nights because of the noise, and utter disappointment because of the money I spent based on deceiving reviews. The only good thing was the location. With all this in mind, I much preferred to stay outside than even using their restaurant at the...
