The fame of this bar situated on the beach is rooted in being the first chiringuito ever in Spain. In contrast with other chiringuitos, which are temporary built with wood on the beach, this one is a permanent building, standing the whole year. The place has a great potential rooted in tradition and its excellent location but unfortunately it disappoints me every year I visit it. Even if I am not considering the fact they are so proud of and could raise the expectations: being the first ever chiringuito, therefore being an example for all the others, my rating is still bellow average. Here’s why. Coffee: the waiter told us, he is not making coffee at this hour(14:00), which means not even after lunch. Calamares: Based on the breadcrumb, I think it was “al Andaluza”, but not even close to a well-prepared, home-made calamares al andaluza. The squid wasn’t soft enough, but still OK to eat. I’m afraid, it was not prepard by them, it was a pre-processed frozen thing. The portion was a normal tapas portion but for almost double price compared to the general tapas prices around Barcelona. Patatas bravas: definitely from frozen potatoes and instead of alioli they used mayonese and the red souce was spicy ketchup. Nothing to do with brava souce. Service: poor guy was alone for the whole place, so the service was a bit slow and unfriendly, despite that he was moving around very quickly. However, I think he was very professional despite the obstacles. Why should a waiter be left alone in such a place?! Price for value: very poor. Taking into consideration, that the food was no better quality than in any avarage local bar run by Chinese owners, using frozen, pre-prepared seafood bought in Mercadona, it was very...

Everything else = awful.
If I could give less than 1 star I would.
Over priced.
I did not eat but the food looked and smelt awful whenever I saw it served. Clearly frozen deep fried rubbish.
You cannot move for amazing restaurants in Sitges, however this place seems the exception.
Worst of all was the service. We were served by an older looking lady who honestly had the worst attitude of anyone I have ever been served by. Ever.. Anywhere. Storming around, cursing, tossing chairs back into place after customers left, bringing drinks and food over to tables and simply slamming them down on any old part of the table without saying a word or even looking at the paying customer. I'm fairly certain this lady believes smiling is punishable by death.
I get that people have bad days and it must get busy and a little stressful in these places in peak season, but ultimately you chose a job in the hospitality industry. Don't then take it out on people for daring to try and order a beer in your overpriced bar.
Also, from reading other reviews, this seems to be a recurring theme from this lady rather than a one off/bad day... Were I the bars owner I would be replacing her ASAP as I saw literally numerous people get up and and leave because of her appaling attitude and I was not far behind them. One drink and gone.
If you hate serving tourists that much and hold us in such contempt, maybe find another line of work as you chose this, we didn't choose you and nobody forced you to work there. You happily take their money with your over-inflated prices. A bit of common courtesy and the odd smile never...
Read moreWanna be in an episode of Twilight Zone ? This is the place ! I WISH I read some reviews or looked at the ratings before bee sat down. I mean they were red flags but we were tired and hungry and it was close. The 3.1 star is hoo high for this place. This is a joke establishment. I should have known something is wrong by the lack of customers. Rightfully so! Once I saw their food it was too late. AVOID AVOID AVOID. It’s like they are actively trying to run this business into ground. I felt like Gordon Ramsey was gonna bust out of the kitchen any minute to ask the owner what are they doing ? Replace that horrible menu and staff ASAP ! Hopefully with someone outside retirement age bracket and ( just a thought given it’s a tourist resort ) someone who at least will try to converse in another language....
