Avoid at all costs. This was a masterclass in how to get everything wrong from start to finish and by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. From the moment we sat down, the service was a shambles and was disorganised from start to finish. We waited 15 minutes just to order drinks, and then a staggering hour and twenty minutes for pizzas, with no updates, no offers of more drinks, and no engagement from the staff beyond dropping off part of our starter.
We had ordered olives and garlic bread as a starter. The olives arrived after 20 minutes, and then we waited a further 20 minutes for the garlic bread to turn up, by which point we were already 40 minutes into our wait for the main course.
When I finally managed to attract somebody’s attention well over an hour after ordering, the waiter casually admitted he had no idea where our food was. An argument broke out in the kitchen and it became painfully obvious our order had not even been started. Then came the unbelievable part: more than an hour after taking our order, we were told they had just one gluten-free pizza base, despite two of our party being coeliac and this being the only reason we had chosen the restaurant.
By the time we abandoned our meal it was close to 11.30pm and we were absolutely starving. The only “gesture” we received was that the starter items were quietly taken off the bill when we left. No apology, no explanation, no attempt to make things right, just complete indifference.
We walked out and went to La Oca (delicious food and gluten free), where we had food on the table in 15 minutes. The contrast was unbelievable. This was total mismanagement from start to finish, zero communication, and staff who could not have cared less. Management...
Read moreCouple of days ago, I was visiting Sitges because of film festival. When lunch time came, I walked down the street in order to find something good and not super expensive. So I found El Raco.
The restaurant is located on the road which is parallel to the seashore, just couple of steps from the famous church. The restaurant is serving mainly Mediterranean food as well as pizza and hamburger. That was ideal for me because I was in mood for good burger.
The stuff was very friendly and speaks English. Before the main meal, I received two pieces of focaccia. It was hot, crispy and ideally flavored. After such a beginning and cold beer, I was waiting impatiently for the main course. And it arrived! The burger was big enough and had crispy chips on the top. They were so thin and crunchy that you have to eat them with hands. Burger itself was good, the egg inside was adding interesting flavor. When I finished a half of it, I realized that the meat was totally raw! Of course I was sick later that day…
Will I recommend that place? Sure, why not. Maybe there’s only a problem with holding the meat on the grill and the rest is fine. Will I come back? There’s a lot of other restaurants in Sitges that needs to be checked out so...
Read moreWe were walking past and decided on a whim to eat here. The menu is like a newspaper, which both my partner and I thought was too gimmicky! Quite confusing and difficult to understand because half of it is upside down and back to front. The wine list is on a bottle on the table.....pretty good selection and great prices. We ordered our food with the very handsome waiter and relaxed in the warm Sitges evening. The atmosphere is lovely and got chatting to our table neighbours. Our starters were great, tomato, mozzarella and pesto for one and grilled and roasted vegetables for the other. My partner orders pasta with bolognese sauce and I had the burger cooked medium. The pasta came and it was exactly as it said on the tin. However the burger was not......processed and rubbery meat, not pleasant and had to send it back. This was a cheap frozen burger dressed up as something else. We were not charged for the burger and we would definitely go back.....just not for that. Will stick to...
