El Cochino — Restaurant in Teguise

Two stars is generous. The only satisfactory plate we ordered, out of the cheese platter, Russian salad & meat platter, was the the salad. Only two types of cheese on this platter of “Canarian” cheese (nothing Canarian about it). The meat was fatty, tough and the chicken was borderline undercooked.

Next, the restaurant is understaffed: only 2 waitresses on a Saturday night. One is running around, trying to do a hundred things at once, the other must’ve missed her siesta today. Her presence in the restaurant made no difference at all.

Do I sound frustrated? Yes, I am. We’ve been on the island 2 weeks and this is the most expensive dinner we have eaten (87€!!) yet the worst quality food and service!

I walked past there at least 10 times considering to eat there. This one time I did, I wish I hadn’t.

It really is a shame to let so much food, and not to mention the money, go to waste.

One of the best restaurants in teguise, Lanzarote. Great interior decor and fresh clean atmosphere, with outdoor playground adjacent for kids, and outdoor terrace available too. Both Maria and Tamara are expert hospitality professionals, with humanity and sincerity, and express a genuine desire to make your experience unique and very pleasant. We had a bottle of Rioja Crianza 2019, aiolli artisan bread, grilled smoked cheese elwith reduction of grilled pepoers and andulusian style squid with lemon mayonnaise, and suckling lamb with demiglace, sweet potatoes, dried fruit soil and pommes anna potatoes, which are finely sliced buttered potatoes seasoned and baked. Food was ok we had to send the homemade croquettes back because they were still frozen in the middle.we were changed €3 for a bread roll.we asked the owner for a bottle of house Rosé wine and when we got our bill he had changed us €29 for it and when we questioned him about it he told us it was Volcanic Rosé from the island.we paid our bill and put it down to a poor experience.we live on the main land of Spain and try to support local Spanish restaurants and bar wherever we travel which I told the owner so I can only put it down to his own greed.this experience will not stop us from supporting locally owned bars and restaurants we just will not be revisiting this...
