Beware of being overcharged! Are here on a Monday night. The owner ran through a list of options some of which were not on the menu and we had to ask twice for a wine list. We opted for starters and mains from the menu (though husband upgraded his Sirloin wellington to fillet). Service was very slow with owner(?) alternating between hosting and working in the kitchen. Sadly the garlic prawns taste was completely overwhelmed by excess garlic and my Cherne arrived looking like a triangular slice from a frozen block of fish. My husband's food was better but not spectacular. The surprise came with the bill. We expected the uplift for fillet but found we had been overcharged by €7 for the Cherne which the owner said was because it was fres (but was the fish that I pointed to and ordered from the menu not fresh?!). And it looked like a cut from a frozen block. Also wine was charged at €3 more than on the wine menu. We always tip but not this time. When we left the family who had sat down just after us had still not got their mains nearly two hours after...

Traditional uncomplicated Spanish cuisine. The owner, Domingo both greeted and served us.

After he recited the entire menu and answered our questions, I selected the filleted roast rabbit and my wife chose the lamb.

I've only ever had rabbit as a stew and the meat was generally tough and chewy; I guess that's why it's stewed.

Domingo brought the rabbit to the table, expertly carved and plated it with accompanying vegetables.

On my first mouthful of the succulent, delicately seasoned rabbit meat, I knew that I had made the right choice.

Dessert was also a unique experience, a "Baked Alaska" was ordered and expertly flambéed at the table to squeals of delight from my wife.

I will definitely...

Excellent food and service. The owners, Queta & Domingo, go all out to be sure you feel welcome and appreciated. He gives excellent recommendations and there is magic coming out of the kitchen. The foie gras was silky smooth and perfectly balanced, very fresh fish cooked perfectly, a superb crepe suzette to finish it all off. The restaurant ea little difficult to find nestled in the Maretas shopping center. Proceed through the Maretas Arch, bear to right as you pass lesser restaurants, and you'll find it the far end. Well...

Amazing fresh fish. Lots of locals, recommend you book. I had Cherne with lemon sauce my wife had Hake in green sauce. So tasty. Baked Alaska was fab too. Lovely Aura white wine. A very special place very different to the tourist traps.
