Santa Fe — Restaurant in Toledo

This was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in Spain. Unfortunately it coincided with my boyfriend’s first Spanish meal. I was so disappointed. It is cheap €10 for the menu del día. But I would warn you to be careful of what you order. My boyfriend ordered the Migas first. The jamón in the dish was 3/4 fat. For the second plate he ordered croquettas and it was equally disastrous. They were the worst Croquettas I have ever had. My guess is that they were frozen, not made in-house. I tried to eat one and couldn’t stomach it.

I ordered the Sopa Castellana and I couldn’t get past the third spoonful. When I dipped the spoon into it, there was a thin film. It was also lukewarm. I wonder how long it sat there before I ordered it. Thankfully my pollo asado was exactly what I had hoped. Dessert was fantastic but was likely out of a box. You also get a small water or a bottle of wine/tinto de Verano.

I would really caution you to pay attention to what other people are ordering and whether it looks appetizing/if they’re eating it. I noticed someone else ordered the same soup that I got, and she had hardly touched it. Other people did look like their plates were pretty good. I would’ve asked the waiter more questions about the menu, but I felt like he was a little rushed and irritated at the questions that I had already asked about the menu. It resulted in us getting three dishes that were not edible. It is worth the money to spend two extra euro at a more appetizing and legitimate restaurant. As this is...

I’m leaving Toledo right now (18/10/2024) with some of the best views of Spain and with the worst service that we have had in this country. The waitress who attended us was EXTREMELY RUDE as soon as we seated. She gave us less than 3 five minutes to see the menu after we seated and when she came to pick up our orders and we said we haven’t choose already, she stared us and it seems she would punch our face! It was horrible! The other waiter, much better than her, needed to step in because he saw how badly she treated us. Besides that, the food was not good. Without a doubt the rudest, most sullen and impatient treatment I have ever experienced - ever! Basel Faulty was a model of gentility compared with the sour faced middle aged woman who served us. When I asked about the food offerings, she simply pointed at the menus on the tables and when the order was prepared, she shouted at us from behind the counter to come and collect it.
