In January 2024, my family and I visited Cafeteria El Foro de Toledo, located in the heart of Toledo’s Plaza Zocodover. While the location is undeniably convenient and offers a vibrant atmosphere for people-watching, our overall experience was mixed. We ordered a selection of pastries and coffee, but unfortunately, they did not meet our expectations. The croissants were stale and lacked the buttery flakiness one would expect, and the coffee was weak, lacking the rich flavor typical of Spanish cafés. The ambience of the cafeteria was somewhat lacking as well; the decor felt outdated and did not contribute to a pleasant dining experience. The seating arrangement was cramped, making it difficult to enjoy a relaxed meal, and the dim lighting added to the overall dull atmosphere. One of the most significant drawbacks was the condition of the bathroom facilities, which were not well-maintained and lacked cleanliness, detracting from the overall experience. Despite these shortcomings, the service was adequate, with polite staff who seemed overwhelmed, leading to slow service. It took a considerable amount of time for our orders to be taken and served, which was frustrating given the relatively simple menu. While Cafeteria El Foro de Toledo benefits from its prime location and has the potential to be a charming spot, improvements in the quality of pastries and coffee, ambience, and bathroom facilities are necessary. With some attention to these areas, it could become a much more enjoyable dining destination. Overall, while our visit had its challenges, we hope that with these constructive changes, future patrons will have a more...

Visited here on 22/6/19, a Saturday evening. Sadly I have to report a bad experience on many levels. Apart from one young girl the staff were unfriendly and more importantly inefficient. Tables were left uncleared, rubbish was strewn on the floor, it took an absolute age to be served, particularly our second drink, clients were taking their seats and then leaving due to lack of service. Trying to get our bill, which by the way for 2 beers and 2 soft drinks was nearly 15 euros was a marathon undertaking and we almost lost the will to live.

Whoever is in charge of HR here needs to take a good look at themselves. If you employ people as waiters then for goodness sake make sure they deploy fundamental skills i.e. when new people arrive greet them, with a smile, and quickly take their order, AND make sure they get it, take ownership.

Don't walk around with your heads down slouching about, look at the tables and the people occupying them, empty glasses might mean that clients want another drink.

Clear tables when people finish their food and pick up litter from the floor.

Take a look at the toilets now and again and if they smell, as they did, why is that? You are a bar which serves food, smelly toilets is a NO. Sort it out.

This place is in a prime location, it could be fantastic. Maybe we caught it on a bad night, however looking at comments by others it seems our experience is not uncommon.

I try and be positive, its my nature, Not...

Overall, the food was ok. Pasta had good flavor and vegetarian pizza was good. The pizza crust is very very thin, so it will fall if you try to hold a slice vs eating with utensils. With a corner plaza location, it seems to be a popular place. Waitstaff provided what we have been experiencing during our trip and will define as 'typical Spaniard service.' We were not acknowledged. Other customers where served first even though we were there first. They certainly seemed to be more attentive to them. At the time of paying the bill, though, they were fast and quick to note that the tip was not included like in the USA. They clearly are not aware of the level of service waitstaff in the USA provide to earn tips. We have never been told that at any restaurant in Spain during any visit, so it felt as if they were fishing for money from tourists. Besides, we were charged more than 10€ than expected because we sat outside! (Obviously, we didn't read reviews. Should have. I would have gone to MCD or BK! Definitely not worth what we paid, and they didn't earn a tip!!!) However, sitting outside under cover awning in 37 degree heat was nice with the automatic water misters. The seating does feel crowded and loud when they are full and they don't have the other interior...

We went in before looking at the reviews and I wish we had. We ordered Margarita pizza, seafood paella, ratatouille and 3 mango smoothies. The food was the worst I’ve ever eaten and nothing looked or tasted what it is supposed to be. Pizza tasted like cheddar cheese melted on top of flatbread. Paella was fishy, soggy, rice undercooked, with exactly 3 pieces of shrimp, 2 clams, and tiny chopped up calamari pieces so small you can’t even see them in the picture. Ratatouille was mushed up like it was salsa straight out of can. They washed floors right in front of us and didn’t even give us plates for the food. I had to go get them myself. Terrible. Do not go here. Worst 60 euros I’ve ever spent. The flies didn’t even want to land on the food…

Despite the bad reviews, I decided to sit as I was craving some marzipan and it was early in the morning. I don't understand the bad reviews. I had coffee, 3 mazapanes (they are not cheap anywhere as almonds are expensive) and a toledana (local pastry). All of it tasted well. All of it was 8 euros. Not cheap, but not crazy. The café con leche was 2.85 and included one marzipan. Take away prices are cheaper. The service was very kind, too. The best I had in my 4 days in Madrid, Segovia and Toledo trip. Cannot comment on lunch, but if you arrive before the sightseeing spots open (10am), I think it's a good place to have breakfast.
