I’ve spent more than 20 years traveling and trying restaurants around. I don’t usually do this but unfortunately last week I had one of the worst experiences I have had in years. My boyfriend and I were getting to know the city, the restaurant was around and we decided to go in. The initial “greeting” was not friendly at all by the 2 waitresses at the time; although the waiter was nice enough to set us in a table. I ordered a “Causa Limeña” that was supposed to have chicken but it had maybe 1gr of chicken only. I was very disappointing. Still, I have to admit that the flavors were nice. Then I order some octopus (one of my favorite dishes in the entire world) and it was completely unseasoned, unflavored and had the worst “rubber” texture, it was clearly over cooked. I don’t usually complain for these kinds of things but this one needed some feedback so I called the waitress. I began asking if I could get another thing and then proceeded to why I wasn’t willing to eat the plate. Turns out the waitress replied in a very defensive way (maybe even personal, idk) with a very aggressive tone and getting to the “yelling” point, making the rest of the diners uncomfortable. I literally told the girl that the dish was over cooked and that lacked flavor she the told me that now the had to throw it away (in a very condescending way), then she started saying that that was the way the octopus is done and cooked and that “it was over cooked because the octopus they buy is precooked. I have to mention that by the tone she used and choose of words, she was trying to call me an ignorant on how the octopus is cooked. After about 3-5 mins of her arguing/yelling/ and trying to defend the feedback. I told her I didn’t mind at all paying for another dish but I simply wasn’t going to eat. The totally lacked manners, took of the dish and never returned to the table. I was able to eat something (a ham hugger that was in fact very flavorful and yummy) just because the other waitress and the waiter took over the “yelling-defensive waitress). Overall, although the other staff we very nice, this one yelling waitress ruined the lovely evening I was enjoying with...
Read moreNot sure how this restaurant has 4 stars over all. It appears most of the reviews are a year old.
Went here as I had a free tapa and small beer on the tourist card, which was due to expire and was close to the Cuidad de Artes y Ciencias where I had been that morning.
It was empty a little early for lunch in Spain but still next door had 3 people outside so usually I would have gone I’ll try next door instead but I wanted my free tapa. That was a sign the food wasn’t good.
The free tapa gazpacho was fine but because I wanted lunch I thought I order and pay for another. 12€ for some croquettas that were the worse I’ve had in Spain and I visit Spain every year. They didn’t even say what was in them on the menu, I think chicken but I was guessing. Pretty certain they were from the freezer as despite being hot one of the bites I took was freezing cold but everywhere else they were hot. Can get more affordable and better tapas elsewhere in Valencia. If I got the tourist card again I would try one of...
