Unfortunately the most negative review I have ever given. About 6 months ago my partner and I came from Apotheke upon their recommendation. We sat down and waited 15 minutes before trying to get someone’s attention. We decided shots would be quicker after waiting another 15 mins for our actual drinks… we asked for 2 M&M’s. Mezcal and amaro which we explained. We also informed them if they can’t do it we will order something else… our shots took a long time and we watched the bartenders snigger, laugh and even try the shots that were poured for us BEFORE we received our cocktails (bearing in mind we’re 30 mins in by this point). During this time we were told what we ordered was out of stock TWICE. There was a fancy man wearing a head bartender uniform that surely should inform staff of OOS issues before and during the shift? They were not busy as it was the end of the night. There’s no excuse. We felt made fun off and absolutely alienated. We’re both in hospitality and have opened bars for people before. We respectfully know our shizzle and would never have treated paying customers how we were treated. Will never...
Read moreCafé Madrid inside Marqués House Hotel still feels like Valencia’s living room, a polished salon where history and easy conversation meet. Oneiki welcomed us at the bar and introduced the house specialty, Agua de Valencia, created right here. His version, bright with fresh orange and balanced citrus, showed why the drink became a city legend, and he even prepared a perfect Last Word on request.
Service was among the best we have experienced in Spain. Oneiki chatted about the café’s past while inviting us to film his pours, and a mixed snack bowl arrived filled with nuts and a pop of wasabi heat that paired beautifully with the cocktails. Soft light, classic mirrors, and low music kept the vibe effortlessly cool without feeling formal.
Great drinks, thoughtful touches, and genuine warmth make Café Madrid a must for anyone who loves cocktails and a bit of local history.
Also a shoutout to Daniel for being so kind...

The original recipe, which can easily be found online, actually contains a higher percentage of alcohol than orange juice – the difference in taste is clear.
On one occasion they “accidentally” made a mistake with the bill. On another, two ladies were speaking very loudly, and one of them even took off her shoes and put her legs up on the back of a chair. None of the staff stepped in.
Overall, it’s still a nice bar, but the quality has definitely dropped, and it’s not worth paying so much for such...
