There are so many places to eat in Valencia, the choice is bewildering. However thanks to Google Reviews we tried Restaurant Espurnes, a laid back restaurant serving deliciously creative food, beautifully presented and served by friendly and attentive staff.
We arrived about half an hour before they opened and managed to reserve an outside table for dinner, for when they opened.
We ordered from the main menu one evening and were blown away by the well balanced flavours of each dish as well as the tender smokiness of their meats.
Our top recommendations are…. Starters: Bravas Espurnes - patatas bravas with a uniquely delicious twist; Burrata salad;
Mains Grilled squid; Iberian grilled pork; Grilled duck magret;
Dessert Cheesecake (no biscuit base - instead a light sprinkle of base crumb)
We decided that we had to return for another visit before we left Valencia. We returned on our last day and tried their midday lunch menu. GREAT value - 3 set starters, main dish to choose and dessert or coffee for €19pp. Each dish was uniquely tasty. For the mains we tried the Sea Bass and meatballs (we added bread for the meatballs to mop up the delicious tomato sauce). Both dishes were delectable. For desserts we had chocolate cake, carrot cake and of course cheesecake - it had to be repeated! All were scrumptious.
Restaurant Espurnes, well worth multiple visits, not least because they transformed dishes as ubiquitous as meatballs and patatas bravas into flavour experiences.
As to the staff … Mika stood out for her patience (with my minimal Spanish) and infectious laugh. Maria too was kind and welcoming. Duvan’s welcoming smile and humour made us feel right at home.
Well done to all at Espurnes! Your high rating is well deserved for your food and service! Service is not included so...
Read moreWe had a superb meal here tonight. We would highly recommend. We are a family of 4 spending a week in the rain in valencia. We picked this restaurant for dinner tonight after checking out some reviews. We were all tired after doing so much walking over the last few days. The kids weren't sure even about a 12 min walk from our hotel to this place. By the time we arrived my son was seriously over tired but when we left he was asking if we could go back again tomorrow. The food here speaks for itself. The menu is simple but every dish we had was just delicious. We had the burrata salad and padron peppers to start with some bread. Then we had the duck, squid, iberico pork and grilled veg as a main to share between us. Every dish was just excellent. We enjoyed the wine and even managed a couple of cheese cakes to share between us to finish. We left completely full. The staff and atmosphere of this place are great. I would recommend for everyone, families, couples, groups of friends, solo travellers. Everyone in this place is happy and welcoming. Fantastic value and worth finding this place. It is fairly small so we would...
Read moreHonestly, this wasn’t our first choice and ended up here coz… well Friday night in Valencia…
But it ended up being a FANTASTIC experience! The place is really pretty, the food exceptional and the service outstanding. We had an absolutely amazing waiter who was extremely professional but informal and fun and gave us tips. The food was… well… no-time-to-take-pictures good! We had a Valencia tomato salad with tuna. It may sound well, like a tomato salad with tuna but NO: first of all it comes in a flower of tomato petals (coz the tomatoes are so big), filled with enormous tuna chunks, pickles and this insanely good vinaigrette. The tomato itself is not acidic and has the texture of a peach. The rest was amazing but Thai was my favourite dish! Then we had the Espurnes version of ptatas bravas - the only downside of this dish is that there are not 200 potatoes on the plate. And lastly the steak, which was juicy and delicious, cooked to perfection and finished off with salt flakes. Mouthwatering. Also, the cheesecake was a plus, but definitely one keeping a...
