Calma Beach - Restaurante Mediterráneo — Restaurant in Valencia

I’ve changed my original 5 star review to 1 star due to the lack of service on my visit last Saturday- all the tables except one were reserved - all I wanted was to sit at a street table and have one beer but the waitress basically said she was too busy - I went to another place nearby and watched as other customers were turned away - half an hour later and still the tables were empty and marked reserved. I don’t understand why tables are reserved and remain empty for such a long time denying locals like me and passing tourist trade to enjoy a quick beer and snack - I’ve left my original review below and suffice to say I will most likely go elsewhere from now on which is a great pity. Your staff need to be flexible and your business model needs to be flexible too - Turning away regular customers is never a good idea and I saw another five customers at the same time as me being turned away 😒

My original review from earlier this year- Good location near the Grau Cabañal tram stop. We come here occasionally for the cocktails and beer which are good quality. Plenty of tables inside and a row of tables on the footpath outside. We had dinner here for the first time and enjoyed the Asian food on offer which was very good. Will have to try the pizza or local dishes next time. The service is excellent and although we both speak Spanish I noted that the waiter spoke good English. Thanks for an enjoyable experience. For our first meal in Valencia we walked out of our hotel and came to Calama Beach by Petitbistro to try their food because we saw that they have the beyond Burger and we are both vegan.

The food was absolutely amazing and very well priced for the portion size of what you get.

Our server Raul was incredibly kind and helped us to understand how to order and connect to the Wi-Fi since we're from America and we don't have cell service here or speak the language very well.

The atmosphere was very nice on the inside and they had the heater going on a cold day which was great. Although we opted to sit outside to enjoy the views of the area.

I would definitely recommend you coming here if you are vegan or vegetarian as they have great options to choose from, I got the beyond Burger with fries and a coffee and my fiance got the healthy combo plate with vegan mock chicken.

They also give you a little appetizer of salted peanuts which was delicious if you're incredibly starving like we were.

What a terrible experience I had at this restaurant. My friend and I visited the restaurant at 10pm on Tuesday evening. It appeared quiet and it looked like a lovely place to enjoy an evening coffee. We entered and saw one of the male staff members who quite abruptly told me to wait at the door to be seated. So, we waited. And waited. I noted there were several free tables available and only a few customers. After several minutes of being patient, I asked the waiter how long we would need to wait. It was clear he did not want to engage and asked if we had booked. I peered behind him and asked if we needed a reservation as there was virtually no one in the cafe. He smirked and said yes but that he could get us a table. I told him no, it was too late and that I would be writing about our poor experience.
