El León Bar & Bistro — Restaurant in Valencia

So, when it comes to food, it wasn’t as good as I was told it is, but that’s not the case. When I stepped in with my girlfriend we chose the only available table next to dirty ones. They were not cleaned for like 30 minutes. The worst thing when it comes to these tables is that there were flies flying all over the place. Second thing is that when a waitress approached me, I was speaking to her in English, and she didn’t understand anything. She was talking in Spanish, and explaining to me something but since I do not speak this language I had no idea what she was talking about. Third, and the worst thing, was that in the menu it was written that seafood Paella costs 12€. In brackets it said that it’s a dish for two people. We paid 24€ for it, because these 12€ was meant to be paid by one, so the full cost of this dish is 24€ and IT WAS NOT WRITTEN IN THE MENU. I think that waitress was trying to explain me that it is more expensive, but as I have said, I do not speak Spanish, and, I think that it is restaurant’s thing to take care of foreign people. Food: Cod fritters we're good but that was basically it. The grill cod and paella were both mediocre at best and much better at some of the other restaurants around here. Shrimps were peeled but not deveined. Mojito tasted watered down and the mint leaves were not fresh at all. Overpriced for the quality. 3 dishes and a drink came out to 71 euros. 2/5

Atmosphere: Lots of flies. There were constantly multiple flies hovering around the whole meal and we left without even finishing our food because of them. Showered right before coming for dinner so it wasn't us. There was a dumpster two corners away so they may have been attracted to that. 2/5

Friendly and fast service and always seem to have table available outside when we stopped by. We went there twice during our week long stay and made a reservation the first time. We also tried their set menu which had very good options of what we wanted to try.

The only drawback, if I had to be critical, was because of the acoustics of the corridor where the restaurant is located, a lot of singers and dancers setup shop to entertain for a tip.
