Karma Cafe — Restaurant in Valencia

While they don't sell speciality coffee yet (something I mostly go for), it's the people that run this place that make Karma Cafe & Bar one of the most interesting coffee joints in Valencia.

Owned by Shahil and Reeju, this cafe is somewhat of a home away from home, making it the perfect place to hang out or get some work done while enjoying a cup of joe.

Estuve por la mañana en esta cafetería y me pareció un lugar tranquilo y agradable, por lo que decidí volver por la tarde. Sin embargo, mi experiencia en esa segunda visita fue muy diferente.

Después de pedir un café y una botella de agua mientras usaba mi ordenador portátil, una persona del personal me informó de que no podía quedarme mucho tiempo porque iban a tener las mesas ocupadas. Me sentí discriminado, ya que simplemente estaba consumiendo como cualquier otro cliente. Además, el personal no podía saber si más adelante iba a merendar o a gastar más dinero, por lo que esa actitud me pareció aún menos justificada.

Al expresar mi malestar y decir que, con ese trato, no volvería, la persona me respondió “mejor”, una actitud poco profesional y totalmente inapropiada hacia un cliente.

Considero que prohibir el uso del ordenador o imponer un límite de tiempo es tan absurdo como prohibir el uso del teléfono móvil: ambos forman parte de la vida cotidiana y no deberían ser motivo de exclusión.

During my stay in Valencia, I pop up in this place on the first day on my way to work. Since then I come here whenever I go to the office. It is almost a month now.
