Bar Cassalla — Restaurant in Valencia

I live quite close by, and have visited on a couple of occasions before yesterday, but I will never return after the experience yesterday…

We came in for something light to eat in the evening after having a big lunch earlier in the day.

We ordered 2x gildas, 2x buñelos, the patatas bravas, the ensalada tomate y ventresca, a portion of bread, and some drinks.

I am no restaurateur, but the pre-prepared food should come first - The bread and the gildas. Instead, the salad and the patatas bravas came first.

The gildas were given to the table next to us, sent back, and took another 5 minutes to be re-delivered.

Still no sign of the bread. Short black haired waitress was notified, and still, nothing…

Then the buñelos came at the very end and were not so tasty. Then, our original waitress came and asked just as we were finishing the buñelos if we were missing anything. What are we going to say? “Yeah, we’re missing the bread” and sit there eating it on its own like mice?

Back to the short, black haired waitress… we asked for the bill three times and she either completely forgot about us (unlikely as we asked 3 times), or chose to ignore us…

When we finally got the bill, of course they added the bread. When we notified them of this, the bill came back a second time and they had charged us for 3x buñelos and 2x portions of aubergine added at €8 per serving. Remember, we ordered 2x buñelos and no aubergine. Not spotting these errors initially was our fault for not checking the bill correctly first time around, but they essentially added over €20 of food to the bill that we did not order or didn’t receive.

This was a relatively quiet wet Monday night, I fear to think of how disorganised they are when it’s a busy Friday or Saturday night. Really truly awful experience, after quite enjoying my previous...

So…. The food ok, the drinks great BUT the service was just awful. I understand we are on Fallas but seriously you will lose business like this.

First we arrive at 7pm, we the manager told us the table was reserved for 8pm therefore we sitted in a high table. The said table never was occupied in the 2h we were there…

We were 6ppl and ordered quite a bit, food included. They forgot plenty of what we order and had to remind them several times.

Lastly, the manager approached us at 9pm telling us that he just got our table booked, even tho we were still eating and drinking and that we need to pay and leave…. We said ok and that I will just checked if anyone wanted something else, and he told us “no, I need the table”. The place wasn’t full but and we weren’t nasty or noisy guests. There was food and drink on the table and they booked it just while we were there….

We’ll never come back, and we are...

Finally got here after following the place for months on Instagram. The only booking I could get was for 16.30, which wasn’t a problem.

I had to change the booking from 4 people to two people today. We arrived and when we went to order we were told that the kitchen was closed and that we could only order from the aperitif menu which was the standard bravas, croquettes and Russian salad. We were disappointed but ordered and enjoyed the food.

Downsides were obviously the lack of choice in food that we had been looking forward to, but also the fact that it is not stated on the website the specific food times they have(apart from almerzo) Then being sat around dirty tables for the meal and then the servers who obviously were nearly finished their shift and couldn’t care less about serving us.

Just a bit disappointing after planning a nice...
