Surprisingly disappointed. Cute place in a good location in old town near the Cathedral. Very friendly server with a warm and genuine welcome. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the charm.
We ordered 2 starters and 2 main dishes. The cod roe dip had no discernible flavor. We couldn't tell if it was a flavorless hummus or cod roe, it just didn't taste of anything. The zucchini fritters and the dill/yogurt sauce were very good and fresh tasting as they appeared to be made to order. Then we waited. For 53 minutes. Excruciatingly waiting for the lamb dish and the cod tempura with potato. When they did arrive, 1 hour and 13 minutes into our arrival, both main dishes were COLD! the black (?) mashed potato was salty and ice cold, as if they were scooped out of the fridge and onto the plate. The 60g or so piece of fried cod was OK, but again, cold and not even room temp (did they refrigerate the dish before serving?) the plates themselves were not even warmed, the food must have sat lonely for a long time, before hitting our table.
The worst of the meal was the lamb. Lamb! In a Greek restaurant the lamb was......Undercooked, tough, chewy and swimming in a pool of lamb fat/oil, and also served COLD! We were so disappointed and when the server, who obviously saw we were not satisfied with a cold dinner served an hour late, asked us how everything was, we told her the food was cold and inedible, she just smiled and brought the check. We paid the bill in full, but will not return. Plates were both left more than half full. The Greek beer was cold too - thankfully.
We were hoping for a good meal, but Kuzina appears to be quite touristy and likely doesn't serve many locals, so perhaps the calculous is that most of the diners are 1-time visitors and the food doesn't need to match the service and charm of the design. 74Euro was the bill total for a Super disappointing meal and we feel cheated out of an evening that we also paid 15Euro per hour for a nanny, so we could try Kuzina. What a waste of...
Read moreI went to the restaurant with my Greek friend because I was curious to hear his opinion on what I consider the best place in Valencia for Greek food. My friend is originally from Crete.
We ordered the salad originally from Crete, served with crusted bread. According to him, the bread should have been soaked in water a bit longer. For the souvlaki, his recommendation is not to put the mustard sauce over the meat beforehand. The lamb was good, and the kolokithokeftedes (zucchini fritters) were excellent. The portokalopita (orange pie) was okay, but, according to him, not quite like in Greece.
Regarding the atmosphere, I personally prefer dimmer or warmer lighting in the evening. I have no idea why the majority of restaurants in Valencia opt for bright white LED lights.
Despite that, I still believe this is the best place in town to enjoy Greek food. Bruno, our waiter, was very kind and attentive, and we are truly grateful for his efforts to make us...
Read moreI have a mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand the food is tasty, mousakka was nice and waiters are polite. However, the owner is overly dramatic and takes bad feedback too pesonaly which affected my experience. We were shocked becouse Greek restaurant is not serving gyros and the owner was disrespectful with the explanation that we were probably looking for a street food and not for a nice restaurant. For me it is like Italian restaurant is not serving a pizza becouse it is a common street food. A bit strange. After my friend gave a 1* review the owner approached our table with obvious passive agression to "thank" for the review with an ouzo on the house. The behaviour was just unprofessional. If he said that he is truly sorry for not meeting our expectations everything would be fine and I would give 4*. Unfortunately the owner's attitude stoled the show and therefore this is the maximum I can give for the...
