Recently moved to Valencia, 10 months ago. Still exploring the fine restaurants that are in this lovely city and La Pizza is no exception. It sits on a predominantly pedestrian street, seating outside with table cloths and overall a pleasant location. The wait staff are professional and courteous. They obliged my poor Spanish but all speak English to various degrees as far as I can tell. The pizza I ordered, Arribbiata and a panna cotta, both were wonderful.
I also ordered 2 large beers. When I received my first it was clearly not a large, it was a doble (double..30cl) but I assumed the waitress made a mistake. I ordered a repeat to which I received a second doble, understandably given the 1st I received.
My issue was the bill. I was charged for 2 large beers. Not to be unsympathetic to anyone's human error, I challenged the waitress on the size of the beer i had in front of me Vs the amount I was charged and I was assured I was drinking a large. My Spanish being insufficient for a debate and the indifference on the cost difference I did not continue my challenge and paid.
I have since conferred with other bars and friends that I know here and I can confirm that a doble is without question ~30cl which I was served and a large is 40-50cl depending on the establishment.
Suffice to say it is always wise to be aware of what you are paying for and what you are getting. I am not inclined to return to return to LA Pizza given my experience.
The rating here are reasonable..I can only downgrade service because it is the closest to my negative experience of a misrepresentation of what the menu offered...
Read moreWe went to La pizza for lunch as few of our friends had suggested this place and spoken a lot about their Pizzas.. Went in for a Sunday lunch.. for beginners we tried the Mojito (sin alcohol) and beer, both were great especially owing to the hot summers in Valencia! We didn’t order an appetiser but went straight for the main course. Had pasta Cappellecio Capesante, it was Cappellecio filled with a mince of scallops and shrimps, bisque of shrimps and cherry tomatoes. It was a nice, something different in taste. But I would like to try a few more pasta options on their list as they looked delicious. For Pizza we had the Tartufo e Prosciutto, it was a wood fried pizza with truffle cream, mushrooms and ham. It was delicious! A definite 10 on 10. The truffle cream just oozed out in every bite. We ended our meal with the yummilicious tiramisu, it was just perfect and also not overtly sweet. Loved the food overall. Would love to try more items on their menu. The staff was friendly. Jose who attended to us, was very attentive and smiling throughout the service which made us comfortable. He also offered us limoncello an Italian liqueur at the end of our meal, which was rather refreshing. Do visit this place for some great pizzas, dessert and off-course a...
Read moreMy family and I had an excellent time. We had spent the entire day driving from one castle to another in this region, and my teenage sons wanted pure comfort food for dinner after such an exhausting day.
The focaccia bread was excellent. The calamari appetizers were lightly breaded and very good. The pizzas were delicious. The boys loved their margherita pizzas, and my wife and I loved our cannibale and amatriciana pizzas. Our waiter Nico was consistently attentive despite the busy restaurant.
A word of caution though. I have seen this restaurant on various lists for best date spots, but the restaurant is in a very touristy area and full of large tables. The vibe is amazing for families and groups of friends who want to laugh and have a good time, but I would not bring my wife here for a romantic dinner solely because the decor is beautiful.
All in all, we had an...
