La Tasqueta del Mercat Ruzafa — Restaurant in Valencia

We were looking for a place to eat near the Turia park on sunday evening. We chose La Tasqueta del Mercat and were quite positively surprised by the expierence. It is located in a rather quiet part (at least on sunday) of the area around the park. Typical streetside style place but more off centre so less traffic and not crowded. We had the tuna tartare (seasoned to perfection), the burrata salad (great balance of flavours), three chicken croquetas (great filling; a ragout to die for), the provolone margarita style (simplicity rules!) and the oven style chicken (lovely oven roasted taste and a great complimentary sauce of which I would not have minded to have had the chef slightly more generous ;-) )with the house specialties granizados. Had a fantastic lunch here today. We were recommended this restaurant and it didn't dissapoint. We chose the Menu del dia which had starters and desserts to share and a main course each.

Every mouthful was delicious. I wish I had taken some photos but was too busy enjoying the food to remember! We sat outside and it was sunny when we arrived but once the sun went away we were quickly brought a heater to keep warm.

Our waiter, Luca, was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about each dish which he served to us which made the experience even better. It is clear that there is a lot of thought put into the flavours behind each plate.

This was an all around fantastic experience! We came to eat here because it was right where our bus stopped, and we couldn't be happier with what we got. For two and a half courses (you share dessert), we paid €45,-. And that's including 3 rounds of drinks. The food was excelent. Our starters were very tasty and very reasonably portioned. The rib we ordered had the tastiest meat we've had this far in Valencia, and the burger we ordered had a delicious sause. The brownie we had for dessert came with some excelent mocca-ice and wallnuts and a caramelsauce. All and all a wonderfull experience and a hard reccommend for anyone going...
