One of the most romantic and intimate squares in Valencia for an amazing night. Its amazing for a date night or a nice dinner with friends. We had dinner here for two nights in a row and got blown away twice by how amazing the food was. I sincerely implore you to try the 'Shrimp Hatillo and Fresh Cheese'. It is one of the best appetizers i've ever eaten. It was so good I was staring at the sky contemplating life for 10 minutes. But the amazing experience didn't end there, oh no. If you want to taste one of the best dishes in your entire life I greatly recommend you try the 'Duck Tenderloins with "Foie" and Pedro Ximénez Sauce' and 'Deer Sirloin with cranberry sauce '. The food was so good I'm still dreaming about it. The staff is incredibly professional and lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home. I highly and immensely recommend this place to go check out!
On the second night there was a big rainy thunderstorm that didn't seem to end. We were allowed to wait it out by the lovely staff and eventually when it died down a bit they cut out a crafty raincoat from a garbage bag so my girlfriend wouldn't get her dress wet. We deeply appreciate their attentiveness and...
Read moreA couple of weeks ago I wrote a pretty scathing review regarding the service my wife and I received (or better put, didn’t receive) at this restaurant. In short, we left without ever ordering. The following day, I received a gracious and heartfelt apology from the owner, in which he asked for the opportunity to do better. A little over a week later we gave Abadía d’Espí another shot. We’re glad we did. The menu, which was our original attraction, is more creative than most neighboring establishments in this quiet but touristy part of town. The preparation of the food was spot on, particularly the Finitos with thyme lemonade, orange and codfish ensalada and duck breast with foie gras and a lovely Pedro Ximenez reduction. The wine list is compact but it covers most of the bases. And the service was vastly improved. BTW, I don’t believe Sr Espí was aware that we were the writers of the review until we had a rather emotional exchange of mutual gratitude as we departed. We will return! PS the house blend of Pedro Ximenez-Moscato-Virgin of Malaga was the...
Read moreThis restaurant is placed in the calmest square around the corner from the bustling streets of Valencia old town. It has the loveliest atmosphere to eat out in the terrace. I was quite happy with the food as well. Particularly the fish starter on orange slices and the eel in almond sauce. The only issue was that when we wanted to order half rations of our main dishes, the waiter very confidently recommended that we order them in full ration (they have half and full ration options for most dishes in the menu). We took his advice. But after our starters, the full ration was too much so we could not finish our mains. I would suggest the crew not to give as much input for the amount of food ordered so people can still order more tapas dishes if they are not full or leave some space for...
