**Review: 1 Star** I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. My experience here was absolutely awful from start to finish, and I’m warning everyone to stay far away from this restaurant. First of all, the food was ridiculously overpriced for what we got. For the absurd prices they charge, I expected at least something decent, but no—the seafood wasn’t even fresh! Everything tasted bland and super normal, nothing stood out, and definitely not worth what they were asking for. But that wasn’t even the worst part. The service was **horrendous**. Not only were the staff slow, but they acted like they couldn’t care less. No helpfulness, no professionalism, just pure indifference. And to top it all off, when we went to pay the bill, we were told they only accept cash. In 2024! Are you kidding me?! Who even does that anymore? It’s absolutely insane that they didn’t mention this before we ordered. This is something you tell your customers upfront, not after the meal when they’re ready to pay. It’s beyond shady, and frankly, it felt like a scam. If you’re looking for a place with overpriced, mediocre food, slow service, and strange, outdated payment policies, then by all means, give this disaster of a restaurant a try. But for everyone else—avoid this place like the plague! It was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

This is a true gem of a place. Located in a gorgeous street with the Lonja de la Seda ( A UNESCO designated site) as a side benefit. Dining there was a great experience. The food was delicious. The grilled prawns were the best in the menu. The meat dish called carrillera was delicious. Don’t remember the name of the roasted small peppers that came with one of the meat dishes we ordered but they were new to our palate but definitely a welcome addition to our experience. We could not taste their Paella as they had ran out of it as we came to dinner late in the evening. But extra servings of papa bravas were just what the doctor ordered. We will gladly go back and try their Paella. By the way our waiters were genuinely interested in interacting with us. We felt at home and they made a great meal and time there become a delightful evening. In the photo my sister and our new lovely friends in Valencia.

A nice restaurant not too far from the Mercat ! Pretty nice outdoor sitting, overall a great experience. Service was top notch and I would advise booking in advance or coming early like us (we came when the restaurant opened) as all the tables were quickly full by the time we ordered our food. Food was good, especially the croquetas (the fish one was to die for, apparently they won a competition with this one). However, we were slightly disapointed by the seafood paella as we would have liked more seafood in it since the paella was 22€ per person (expensive compared to other paella spots in Valencia). Would still recommend the spot !

Nestled in the heart of Valencia, la taberna sant joan is a charming eatery that captures the essence of traditional Spanish dining. With its vibrant decor, rustic wooden tables, and the tantalizing aroma of sizzling tapas wafting through the air, stepping into this restaurant feels like a warm embrace from the Valencian culture.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the delightful waitress, Siwar, whose professionalism and warmth immediately set the tone for my dining experience. With a bright smile and a genuine enthusiasm for the menu, she invited me to explore the diverse array of tapas. From the classic patatas bravas to the mouth-watering calamares a la romana, Siwar’s recommendations were not only knowledgeable but tailored to my tastes, showcasing her expertise in the cuisine.

What struck me most about Siwar's service was her ability to make every guest feel like a valued part of the restaurant family. She took the time to engage in friendly conversation, sharing stories about the dishes and even the ingredients sourced from local markets. Her passion for the food and her commitment to exceptional service were clear, making me feel welcomed and truly at home.

As I indulged in the delightful tapas, each bite was more delicious than the last. The harmonious blend of flavors transported me to the bustling streets of Valencia. The vibrant atmosphere was uplifted further by Siwar’s attentive service; she consistently checked in to ensure that my experience was nothing short of perfect, all while maintaining a respectful distance that allowed me to savor each dish at my own pace.

Finishing off with a delicious dessert, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. The combination of exquisite food and Siwar’s exceptional service transformed an ordinary meal into a memorable dining experience.

In a city renowned for its culinary heritage, la taberna sant joan stands out not just for its delicious offerings but for the welcoming atmosphere fostered by incredible staff like Siwar. I left feeling not just satisfied, but genuinely cared for, eager to return and share this hidden gem with friends. If you're in Valencia and seeking an authentic tapas experience, look no further than la taberna sant joan . It's a feast for the senses, and you might just find your own Siwar waiting...

This place is horrendous!! I visited many restaurants in Valencia and this one is by far the worst. First, the sangria is this thick juice with 0 taste, the patatas bravas were covered in the cheapest garlic sauce ever with a weird consistency. And the cherry on the cake was the chicken paella who is supposedly a traditional Valencian dish. Surprise - it was tasteless and bland, the chicken in question is just wings and chicken leg poorly cooked. When the waiter saw we didn t eat it, he asked what happened and I tried to be nice about it - i was on vacation and i didnt want to ruin my moo. Surprise - he took the plate and went into the kitchen, came back with the cook or the boss idk who this lady was and they began to SCOLD ME for not eating their food!!!! WHAT??? I tried to say maybe it wasnt for my taste and they accused me of coming in their restaurant not hungry and that was the reason I haven t eaten their shitty paella. That paella tasted as if I have cooked it myself after a long day of work and just threw some rice and chicken leftovers in the pan. Their attitude was completely wrong they should be grateful I even paid for - btw 19 euros PER PERSON - thing that is not specified in the menu :) even if the paella plate is actually destined for 2 so you have to pay double whatever the case is. Disgusting attidude and disgusting people, it is a tourist trap or something because otherwise i can t explain how these guys are still...
