Truly an incredible dining experience, but with a few tweaks needed in the dishes.
Staff were very friendly, spoke mostly Spanish but were accommodating and kind. Even making jokes with us :)
We got three dishes between us. The Rabbit (Conejo al ajillo), The Vueltas de Solomillo, and the De Chuleta Rice.
We had issues with the pricing to start with - the Rice Dishes are for two people, but the prices don’t reflect that. When it says a rice dish is for two and gives you a price, they will charge you that price per person - not per plate. Please note!
The rice of the De Chuleta dish was very VERY good, cooked perfectly and flavorful. However the cuts of meat with it were very fatty and had lots of gristle. Also the meat was almost uncooked altogether in some parts, while overdone in others. Also it was quite sweet - were a little taken aback with how sweet the meat was. Not what we were hoping for or expecting to be quite honest.
The Rabbit (Conejo al ajillo) was very delicious. Super tender meat and so flavorful! No changes, perfect dish.
The Vueltas de Solomillo was very good - very garlicky. Whole cloves cut up on the dish! The steak was a little tough, but overall...
Read moreWe went for a meal here just before covid hit us and we definitely was not impressed so returned today to give them a second chance. We are not tourists and been to fabulous restaurants on this island but after given them a second chance we won’t be coming back!! Only two waitresses on and special attention was being given to the Spanish locals and waited to be served for over 10 minutes as she was too busy chatting to her locals. The other waitress was doing nothing and definitely looked like she wanted to be somewhere else. We finally got to order our drinks and our tapas of four dishes. The prawns arrived first with our bread rolls. When the rest of the tapas finally arrived the fried cheese with jam was cut into six very small triangles and was not expecting that and was the worse fried cheese we have eaten. We ordered meat balls and canarian potatoes and received 4 meatballs on a plate with some not very warm chips!!! And then charged us £14-50 for the meatballs and chips. Maybe if we were local Spanish then the service and food would have been better. Please don’t waste your money and plenty of other nice restaurants at...
Read moreA very special restaurant usually for 'locals' - but don't be put off, as it's HIGHLY recommend for paella and fish.
We've been here several times and the quality is uniformly incredible. Prior to 2pm, the lunchtime settings are empty - so take advantage before the chaos!
Great service and an incredible menu to explore over several trips (if you're lucky). Recommend the paella for adults - squid ink rice with baby squid and prawns for the 'hardcore', but really any paella would be amazing. No more than a 30min wait for these - and kids can eat first if required. For the little ones - recommend the spag bol and breaded chicken.
Decent and affordable wine and beer options.
Ideally - make it a day trip by getting the 'water bus' from Puerto del Carmen harbour to Puerto Calero (25min cruise with great views). Calero is beautiful and boats go back to PDC frequently after an...
