Restaurante Típico Español — Restaurant in Yaiza

We eat at this restaurant regularly and have always had a delicious meal and good service. But not tonight ! Whereas the meal was delicious, the service was very bad. The waiter was nasty and aggressive. We waited a long time to be able to order, then another long time for our food, even though only 4 or 5 other tables in the restaurant were occupied. Usually there is complimentary bread and butter with the meal, but we did not receive any tonight, however other diners did ? Several times the waiter asked us if we were ready for our main courses, when it was obvious that we were still eating our starters. When we ordered more drinks, they did not arrive and we had to ask repeatedly for them. And finally, when we received our bill we were charged 30% for IGIC tax ! As IGIC tax is 7% in restaurants, I was confused. So I asked the waiter why the IGIC tax was 30% and he told me that it was a higher IGIC tax because it was Navidad. I will be extremely surprised if the extra 23% “IGIC tax” actually goes to the tax office !! Comemos en este restaurante con regularidad y siempre hemos tenido una comida deliciosa y un buen servicio. Pero no esta noche ! Mientras que la comida estuvo deliciosa, el servicio fue muy malo. El camarero era desagradable y agresivo. Esperamos mucho tiempo para poder hacer el pedido, luego otro mucho tiempo para nuestra comida, a pesar de que solo otras 4 o 5 mesas en el restaurante estaban ocupadas. Por lo general, hay pan y mantequilla de cortesía con la comida, pero esta noche no recibimos nada, pero otros comensales sí. Varias veces el camarero nos preguntó si estábamos listos para nuestros platos principales, cuando era obvio que todavía estábamos comiendo nuestros entrantes. Cuando pedimos más bebidas, no llegaron y tuvimos que pedirlas repetidamente. Y finalmente, cuando recibimos nuestra factura, ¡nos cobraron el 30% del impuesto IGIC! Como el IGIC es del 7% en los restaurantes, me quedé confuso. Entonces le pregunté al camarero por qué el IGIC era del 30% y me dijo que era un IGIC más alto porque era Navidad. ¡¡Me sorprendería mucho que el “impuesto IGIC” adicional del 23% realmente vaya a la oficina...

Been coming here for the last 5 years and after tonight can say it's probably our last. Terrible service (3 waiters on duty all of which were run ragid) and just about acceptable food. Starters.....ordered 2 to share but were given no plates, asked each waiter for plates and after what seemed like an eternity, hubby eventually went to the kitchen to fetch our own. Mains..... hubby didn't comment so I take that as being just OK but not great. My main 'the house special grilled fish & seafood' consisted of 1 prawn, 2 muscles, tiny piece of squid and a very over cooked fish with almost no meat. Very nice and affordable restaurant! Great prices as well and extensive men7 to try it out, especially Tapas side where we tried a lot 😁 Cocktails are cheap but Canarian wasn't good (maybe it's just the cocktail type I didn't like) ,Mai Tai was tasty. I can recommend this restaurant as portions were generous sized with really great prices. I knocked a star because striploin steak was rare instead of medium done (I guess it was just too thick) ,and again, this Canarian cocktail tasted too sweet and bland but other than that everything was perfect! We were even served with Lanzarote honey rum at the end (on the house) and this was a really nice touch to finish dinner in a...
