Restaurante Parrilla Albarracín — Restaurant in Zaragoza

We were a group of 12, attending on a Sunday, early November, when there is very little tourism in the city. We were all paying for a Sunday three course menu - starters to share, one main and a dessert. We could not choose the starter. They gave us all some Iberian ham croquettes, which were acceptable, though there were bits of gristle in some, and some migas (fried bread) which were all stone cold. The rice sharer with vegetables including borage and a bit of artichoke was very mediocre. Even though the place sells itself as a grill, there were only two or three grilled meat options, and if you choose the calf or octopus you have to pay around 5 euro extra. I ordered the grilled pork and it arrived with ovened potatoes (patatas a lo pobre) and they were stone cold. It took forever to get the waiter's attention, mainly because they had assigned only one waiter to thirty people. I sent for two people to have their food warmed and by the time the two dishes got back the other ten people had finished their mains. The waiting staff were not particularly friendly, either. The wine was acceptable but nothing extraordinary. The dessert portions were tiny and the selection very basic. Yoghurt, flan, a tiny slice of sponge with some small nondescript ball of ice cream. Cheesecake with no garnish at all. The decoration of the place was decent but predictable and somewhat generic. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant at all. I have been visiting Parrilla Albarracín for maybe 15 years. I visit Zaragoza on business at least twice a year and regularly take clients there. This year I was very disappointed. The waiter was rude and obnoxious. Service was slow, didn't get are drinks till half way through the meal, the waiter ignored me several times and seemed annoyed that I had come in early to watch the champions League game, even more so when two friends joined me and he had to come to the table again to take their order. Later it got better, a waitress who was on a later shift took over and she was friendly and helpful. But by that time we were on our desert. Not having been to Zaragoza before, this place was recommended by a colleague and I'm glad we took up on that suggestion. Not being from Spain nor being able to utter more Spanish than "gracias" or "por favor" (at least at the time) we just asked the "boss" (seemed to be the only person able to speak/understand some basic English btw) to serve us some of the dishes (tapas) he'd recommend so we (group of 9) could just share and enjoy.
