We recently visited Aachary's kitchen for lunch after a over hyped social media influence.
The environment & ambience looks good at first glance but we got suddenly disappointed by an awful smell, even after an air freshener was sprayed. We didn't feel welcomed by the employees, it was not the best feeling.
We were a family of nine, but we kept the order less complicated and item was not too many. The waiter seemed clueless when we asked certain things. He went on taking the order & gave no recommendation as to which dish would suite the best. After taking all the order, he just walked off without even repeating the order back. It seemed like he knew what he was doing so we didn't bother calling him back. Below are the list of items we order,
Nasi goreng Thai seafood with black rice Nandu sooru Bun parotta & Nool parotta Mix Biriyani
The food took quite a while, given the fact that we were the only customers at that time.
We expected the food items to arrive at the same time, as that's how it should work in a normal restaurant. But unfortunately, I didn't happen that way here. Each item got to the table with a delay. The "Nasi goreng" was good but had very few meat pieces, we had dig in search for the pieces. "Thai seafood with black rice" is what we order but instead with received the Thai chicken with black rice. That was disappointing. The waiter refused to take the blame and accused that we gave the wrong order. It was the waiters mistake but we let it pass by. The "Nandu Sooru" was not up to expectations. The white rice was not enough for even two person & the crab was the smallest we have ever seen. It hardly had any meat in it. For a price like that, the dish was a total let down. "Bun parotta & Nool parotta" was just a dry dough. Had no flavor, got dry and hard in minutes. If you are poratta fan, its best you avoid that. The "Mix Biryani" was a joke. The waiter had missed to take down the order & claimed that we never told him. After few words exchanged, he went back in and got two small dishes of biryani, one with a chicken leg piece & the other with thin slices of meat. We had no words, it was awful. Both the portion & taste!
Overall, the food & the customer service was horrible. For the price they have listed, nothing seemed worthy. Do yourself a favor & spend the money some place where you feel satisfied...

After watching YouTube reviews, we decided to try Aachary’s Kitchen, located in Wellawatta Collingwood Place. Our experience started off fine with decent food, but things took a turn for the worse as the meal progressed.
Initially, we ordered two portions of Chicken Lollipop, which were fresh, hot, and tasty. However, when we ordered another two portions, they arrived cold, having been reheated in the oven with foil. This inconsistency in food quality was disappointing.
The most significant issue occurred when we ordered Fish Polichathu, a Kerala-style fish dish. Instead, we were served a simple fish fry. When we pointed out the mistake to the waiter privately, he argued that we had ordered the fish fry. Despite his initially good service, this abrupt change in attitude was bewildering.
We also ordered a Parota combo that was supposed to come with three gravies and egg kalakki. The waiter claimed he had already given us the gravies, but he hadn’t. Eventually, they provided two gravies with mutton, but the experience was frustrating.
We started recording the interaction, at which point the manager intervened, apologized, and voided some items from our bill. Despite this, we chose to pay for our meal and informed them that we would post a video of the entire incident. We even returned the food we took for parcel and paid for every single item.We paid something around 35,000 LKR.
Our experience at Aachary’s Kitchen was marred by inconsistent food quality and unprofessional service. We hope they take this feedback seriously and improve their standards. Most of the incident was covered in the recorded video, and we already informed them about our intention to post it, so there should be no concerns...
Read moreI recently visited Aachary’s Kitchen for the first time, and my overall experience was quite average. The restaurant has a decent setup, but I noticed that they don’t have a wide variety of dishes to choose from. We initially thought it was a purely Indian restaurant, but we were surprised to see that they also serve Chinese dishes. While this could be a good option for some customers, it was a bit unexpected since the name and branding suggest an Indian dining experience.
When it comes to the food, the taste was just okay. We ordered biryani and fresh juices, and while the biryani was decent, it didn’t stand out in terms of flavor or presentation. The fresh juices were served only after we had already finished eating, which was quite disappointing. Ideally, drinks should be served alongside the meal or even before, not long after the food is gone.
The service at Aachary’s Kitchen needs a lot of improvement. It seemed like many of the staff were still in training, as they lacked coordination and efficiency. We couldn’t find a restaurant manager around, which made it difficult to communicate any concerns or ask for assistance. A well-managed restaurant should always have a visible and approachable manager to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
Overall, Aachary’s Kitchen has potential, but they need to work on improving both their food quality and service. Better staff training, proper management, and better coordination in serving food and drinks would make a big difference. If they can address these issues, they might be able to create a more enjoyable dining experience for customers...
