Chillax Garden Pub — Restaurant in Colombo

This is the worst dining experience I've had. Took my family there for dinner after a tiring day. I went to wash my hands and saw the biggest Rat I've ever seen in my life. Came back to the table and had to wait for someone to place my order. I asked for French fries and a beer. My wife asked for a lime and soda and I specifically said to bring the sugar separately.To make things easy we also gave our mains. When the lime and soda came, it was with sugar. We didn't want to make a fuss so we said it's ok. After a long wait, the beer arrived without the French fries. Along with the beer, they brought the mains. So I asked if the french fries were coming to which I was greeted with a blank look. I reiterated that if the french fries were not ready, to cancel it if it wasn't made. I was told it wasn't, but the person taking the order then tried to bring it anyway. I clearly said, since you haven't made it, don't make it as you have already brought the dinner. Half way into eating dinner, she brings the french fries. I asked her why she brought it to which she looked surprised. Now it cant be a language problem as I spoke to her in both languages. I said I don't want the French fries as I am already eating dinner and she took it back. Next the grilled chicken we ordered for dinner looked fried and my wife kept saying somethings not right. We were both hungry so we tried to eat it but my wife left it half eaten. We had also orderd a meat dish in black bean sauce. What was given was more of a fried and deviled dish. When we pointed this out, the supervisor insisted it was black bean sauce. I disagreed and he didn't offer to do anything about it but crept away washing his hands. Finally to put the icing on the cake, my wife and I are both sick with food poisoning as I write this. I called the hotel this morning and informed them. They took my number down and said their Operations Manager would call me. Up to now, no call. This experience has left me disgusted and I assure you that I don't plan to recomend nor visit the Chilax Garden...

This is a go to go place even though I dont drink alcohol just, i love to go to this place to have a great time with friends while they have a drink.

Their food menu comes with a variety of food with a huge choice of dishes. Starting from fried rice, kottu, French fries to so many bites. My upmost favourite of their menu is Bangers and mash. It comes with 2 large sausage, mashed potato topped with an onion sauce which is to die for. Even though I'm not a vegetarian, recently the vegetable fried rice my friend ordered tasted damn good.

The ambience makes everything better coz its situated at marine drive just opposite to the beach so as you all can guess that its gona be a place where you get the sea breeze which is my favourite part. 😍

I'd like to say they have a friendly staff who definitely does manage a busy day quiet well and quickly.

Finally to talk about the prices. It surprises me that this place does not add any taxes or services charges which makes their food and drinks very cheap. And for those who love to split the bill, trust me theirs is the easiest to do so.

Over all I would highly recommend this place for all those who loves an outdoor spot to hang out with...

A Solid First Night Out in Sri Lanka

For our first dinner outing during our month-long stay in Sri Lanka, we were looking for somewhere close to our accommodation that offered a great outdoor atmosphere.

We wanted an authentic experience, so our group of four adults ordered a variety of Kottu dishes to share. Each one was good and satisfying. Our 10-year-old son, who was craving something familiar, thoroughly enjoyed his fish and chips.

While the food was good, I should note it wasn't the absolute best we had on our trip—so there is definitely room for improvement. However, the service was truly exceptional: fast, friendly, and incredibly attentive.

The ambiance was lovely with a nice breeze and really good vibes. Our only minor critique was that the live music was a tad too loud for our liking. There were moments where we had to raise our voices significantly to converse, which was a bit outside our comfort zone.

Overall, it was a great introduction to Sri Lankan evenings. With its reasonable prices, excellent service, and enjoyable outdoor setting, it made for a very pleasant first night out. We'd certainly...
