Tucked away on Gower Street, Bowl'd is a cozy little spot primarily known for its delightful Poké Bowls. During my recent visit, I had the chance to explore some of their diverse offerings beyond just the bowls.
We started our meal with the Mushroom Gyoza, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and delightfully savory on the inside.
The Chicken Katsu Fried Rice followed, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the rice had just the right amount of seasoning.
The Firecracker Chicken was true to its name, providing a burst of flavor with a perfect balance of spice and tanginess. However, it felt a bit dry halfway through and could have used some sauce to blend the rice together.
The highlight of our meal was the dessert, the strawberry nice-cream. It had the perfect balance of granola with coconut chips and a blend of banana and strawberry smoothie.
For drinks, we opted for the Strawberry Watermelon Limeade. It was fairly decent, refreshing with a nice blend of fruity flavors, although it could have been a bit more balanced in sweetness.
The cost for two came to roughly 4,000rs, which is on the higher side. However, the portion sizes were decent and quite filling.
Overall, my experience at Bowl'd was pleasant, and I would rate it a solid 7 out of 10. If you find yourself in the area, it’s worth stopping by for a cozy meal and a taste of their...
Read moreI went with a lot of expectations to experience eating from a bowl at Bowl’d. And before placing the order informed them clearly that I suffer from fatal sesame allergy. I went with my family and ordered two vegetarian options. When the food was served we could see sesame and asked them to check before serving whereby the offered to replace the bowl. Being suspicious I reconfirmed whether the other one had sesame but they clearly denied it. So we started having it but after a few bites I started feeling sick and when I checked the bowl properly could see that it too had sesame.
This kind of lapse in service is highly atrocious and despite this they took the entire bill payment from us . They are clearly not empathetic to the kind of health issues food allergy can cause. Saying sorry is not sufficient. You are playing with people’s health by ignoring such simple request which if not complied can cause health hazard.
And the heights of it all, they took full bill amount and said sorry. I would not recommend anyone having food allergies to visit this place.
Pls do not trust these people, you never know what they will serve you. My health is at risk now until I get treated. I don’t know how much more I have to spend to fully recover. Stay safe and stay away...
Read moreBowl'd is a small restaurant next to the Island Hostels in Colombo 03 which serves Poké bowls. The ambience is very relaxed and quite. It has an indoor as well as outdoor area as well. The out door seating is a treat to our eyes with wooden benches and greenery covering the ceiling. It has a very small cafe vibe indoors. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Will explain the entire menu if you want to. Service is very fast and efficient.
The build your own bowl (BYOB) option is good if you have any allergies or if you simply don't want some of the ingredients. Food and the portions are very good. Apart from the Poké bowls, they have Pokérritos (burrito) and Poké tacos with a handful of variants to choose from. Kithul is used as a sweetener for their Limeades. Strawberry Watermelon Limeade is a must try!
Kudos to them for being eco friendly. They are using bamboo straws, coasters which are made from a plant material and wooden bowls etc. Overall a...
