Update: Try their kurakkan dosa. I loved it with sambar
I have always enjoyed visiting this restaurant for its light tea, which is usually served with thick milk and a layer of milk skin on top, along with a hint of tea. However, I was slightly disappointed the last time I went there, as the milk was not thick enough and there was no milk skin at all. I still appreciate the taste and quality of the tea, but I hope they will bring back the original recipe with pure milk.
Apart from the tea, I also like their paper dosa, which is a thin and crispy crepe made of rice and lentils. It is served with various chutneys and sambar, which are spicy and flavourful sauces. The dosa is very filling and satisfying, and I always order it with the light tea.
Another dish that I recommend is their bonda, which is a deep-fried snack made of potato and gram flour. It is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and it goes well with the coconut chutney. The bonda is a perfect appetizer or snack for any occasion.
Overall, this restaurant is a great place to enjoy authentic South Indian cuisine at a reasonable price. The service is friendly and efficient, and the ambience is cosy and comfortable. I would definitely visit again and try more dishes...

Saraswathie Lodge is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Tamil vegetarian food. From the moment you walk in, the cozy atmosphere and the friendly staff make you feel right at home. The menu offers a great selection of traditional dishes that are both flavorful and fresh.
Their idli, dosa, and vada are simply outstanding — perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sambar and coconut chutney are the best I've had in a long time, with just the right balance of spice and richness. If you're a fan of South Indian breakfast items, you have to try their pongal and upma — both are delicious and filling.
What really stands out is the attention to detail and the authenticity of the flavors. The spices are well-balanced, and you can tell the dishes are made with a lot of care and tradition. The thali is also a great option for those who want to sample a variety of dishes in one meal.
Perfect for a casual lunch or dinner, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a true taste of Tamil...
Read moreGreat spot if you love South Indian vegetarian food! There are several varieties of dosai – plain dosai, masala dosai, onion dosai, etc. – and plenty of vadei options like ulundu vadei, onion vadei, and masala vadei.
I picked up some takeaway and was impressed by the generous portions of sambar and sambol that came with the order. The food was delicious and excellent value for money. Prices were very reasonable – plain dosai, ulundu vadei, and onion vadei were around LKR 140, while a masala dosai was LKR 400.
There are about 5–6 tables if you want to dine in, and I noticed quite a few people eating there. The service was good, the waiting time was about 10–15 minutes, and there's street-side parking available. Highly recommend if you're craving authentic vegetarian South...
