Diner’s Lounge Restaurant — Restaurant in Colombo

Visited this place recently and honestly, I’m a bit disappointed. There were only two parking spots available, and I was lucky to find one free when I arrived. From the moment we entered, I didn’t get a good impression. The person who served us, acted like we were a burden from the start. He opened the door without a greeting, handed us two menus, and walked off without saying a word.

When we started ordering, he kept telling us items were unavailable. Only on the third attempt did he mention that only about 10 dishes from the entire menu were actually available-just the rice and noodle items printed on a single page of what was otherwise a 10-15 page menu. It would’ve saved a lot of time if he had told us that up front. Same story with dessert, only fruit salad was available.

The portion size was decent for the price, which was the only real positive. But the overall attitude felt dismissive, like he didn’t want to serve us or just didn’t care. What he did seem interested in was pushing a bottle of water, he asked us about it four times. Diners Lounge is one of my favorite restaurants in Colombo for consistently maintaining their high standards. Unlike some places where service and food quality can fluctuate between visits, Diners Lounge always delivers excellent food and service.

The food here is exceptional. My personal favorites are the Diners Lounge Special Mixed Rice, Hot Butter Cuttlefish, and their refreshing Saudi Champagne, which is packed with orange, apple, and mint leaves. My family and I always choose this place for celebrations because we all love the food, the service is great, and the prices are reasonable for the quality.

On my recent visits, I noticed that the Indian menu wasn’t available, as their chef from India seems to be absent. This has been the case for a while, but even without the Indian menu, there are plenty of options to choose from.

If you visit, I highly recommend trying the Diners Lounge Special Fried Rice with Hot Butter Cuttlefish. They offer limited parking in their bay, but there’s ample street parking available...

I actually went to this restaurant looking at the reviews but I am giving it one star because of the experience I had today (01/02/2020). The taste of the food was ok but they have definitely added MSG. I ordered mixed large noodles it hardly had any meat in it. I hated the ambiance as it was so very noisy.. it’s the worst restaurant I have ever been to when it comes to staff making the noise. I understand if its kids or the customers but in this case it’s the staff. They were cleaning and arranging the plates/cutlery and they were so loud. I honestly would never visit this place again. And wouldn’t recommend. And the plat which I got wasn’t washed properly as it had oil on the edges and the back of the plate. Also a waiter dropped a customer’s spoon while arraigning the table for lunch and he just picked it up, cleaned it with a tissue and gave it back to her.. He didn’t even wash it. so if they can do such things in front of the customer I do not want to imagine what they would be doing in...
