Lazaani Hotel Colombo — Hotel in Colombo

BEWARE! We had a reception party here, if we can call it that. They convinced us to pay the full amount before the event, yes that’s our fault. Most of the food was inedible and cold, no names so how can a vegetarian know it’s mushrooms (which were pretty good but no one really had it as it was extremely cold). They didn't have food heating methods in place, not even a candle for show, they just couldn’t care less. Don’t get me started on the ‘starters’, they were rejects from shop for sure as every single one was broken and/deformed. The food buffet area had no lights at all to top it off, welcome drinks were given to about 2/3 of the guests (the ones that arrived on time) and same with the starters. We paid for 1.5L coke bottles for each tables and of course instead it was the sprite 1050ml bottles.

There was no manager not even a supervisor, just about 6 staff to run everything so literally no one responsible, our relatives who run hotels down south had to get involved with everything including in the kitchen as they kept holding out on the food?? They ran out of glasses throughout the event and admitted they only have 50 glasses and kept rewashing them so we didn’t even want to think about what they did during welcome drinks (hygiene wise) - we had 150 guests. The bar staff of course stole drinks even though we were being extremely smart and had people watching over taking turns, one of the bar staff was so drunk after dinner time. Soft drinks kept disappearing as we had no control over them.

Cleanliness is non existent, especially the toilets so don’t expect to use them.

Their ‘DJ’, is NOT a dj, it’s a guy with 2 speakers and a laptop. The mic barely worked but I guess he did his best being an amateur (seemed like his first big wedding). Bare in mind all of this was not cheap, we could’ve gone with a lot of others for example Golden Rose Maharagama or mount lavania hotel for the same price so you can tell on top of everything we also got ripped off but unfortunately we got caught out with these guys so just be wary. Of course the manager lady (two faced so straight up completely different person once the day arrives and literally hides) didn’t want anything to do with it or have anything to say, she said they had issues that day but our experience has been proven by multiple other reviews from different events which they left in shambles, there’s honestly no point now as the day has come and gone so just didn’t want to take this further and thought we’d leave it at this, we will all be leaving multiple reviews of the same event.

All in all what a nightmare of an experience it was although the pictures did come out good as the building itself looks decent so it is what it is and of course karma...

I went here for the spa service, and should have trusted my instincts and ran away. They have a menu and look legit, so I selected a package, but then they demanded payment upfront. I should have walked out then, but this was my first time in Sri Lanka, so I figured maybe that’s how they do things here. I paid, was led to a room, and told to change. The girl came in and was pleasant, spoke good English, so I thought maybe it would be alright, but then before she even started she asked me for a tip. I told her that I already paid and would tip if the massage was good. She begged for a tip, said the spa would keep my money and not pay her, and acted like she was gonna cry. I changed back into my clothes and went back to the front but no one was there. When I walked outside to go complain at the hotel they had the security people come and say I never paid anything. This place is all one big scam. It seems like everyone there is of a certain group and will only deal with others of that group. Avoid this place...
