Read moreMy visit to Junior Kuppana in Colombo 04 was an exceptional journey into the world of Kongu Nadu cuisine, a region known for its distinctive flavors and authentic South Indian dishes. I had the opportunity to explore a variety of their specialties, and it was truly a feast for the senses.
To begin, I indulged in the Chicken Biryani, a staple of South Indian cuisine. The fragrant spices and perfectly cooked chicken made for a delightful combination, and the dish was rich, flavorful, and brimming with the essence of Kongu Nadu. Place was bit overcrowded during peak time.
The Omelet was another standout. It was expertly cooked with just the right balance of fluffiness and flavor. This seemingly simple dish was a delightful surprise, showcasing the skill of the kitchen in even the most basic of offerings.
The Coin and Bun Parrota was a unique addition to the meal. The parrota’s layers were beautifully flaky, and it paired wonderfully with the accompanying omelet and chutney. This combination of textures and flavors was a real treat.
Egg Kalaki, a traditional South Indian preparation, was a standout. The eggs were perfectly cooked and infused with a well-spiced tomato gravy. The dish had a comfort-food quality that was truly satisfying.
The Curry Dosa was a culinary adventure in itself. The dosa was crisp, and the curry filling was aromatic and rich in flavor. It was a hearty and fulfilling choice, and the presentation was appealing.
The Chicken Starters were a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to quality. The pieces of chicken were tender and succulent, and the spices and herbs used in the marinade were perfectly balanced. These starters were a delightful addition to the meal, providing a burst of flavor.
The Curry, a quintessential component of South Indian cuisine, was rich and aromatic. It paired beautifully with the dosa and parrota, infusing the entire meal with its hearty and savory essence.
The ambiance at Junior Kuppana was warm and inviting, with a South Indian-inspired decor that added to the overall experience. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and provided impeccable service.
Junior Kuppana is a treasure for those who seek the authentic flavors of Kongu Nadu cuisine. Read moreTruly Disappointed... I wouldn't recommend any of the food items except Paratta, Egg Kothu, Chicken Biriyani and Cheese Kothu here. Every single food item was ordered for those all to taste lesser than lower quality food items. We arrived by 9 and since then they have been providing us with food trying to send us out, at about 10 onwards. Do not, I repeat, Do not order any of the desserts or drinks or any items of sweets for the people who did eat are all having sicknesses immediately few hours past dining here. Butter Naan is Simply just the same as DRY NAAN, so is Garlic Naan too, which when asked to be heated up, simply gets burnt and brought to you with the other food items like Paneer tikka simply has only onions purposefully trying to cheat the customer by putting more of unnecessary items than what's supposed to be there. Additionally other types of Kothu were simply lacking the taste where they have added some form of scent essence making it disgusting to eat. When asked for ice cream, it took over 20 mins to arrive where even after arriving, they tasted worse than medicinal feel with the ice cream simply reduced with a single scoop filled with sweet jelly than is noted to be not sweet but instead gives headaches to all who ate, with over 5 out of 10 Faluda simply left to be thrown away due to the terrible taste. Kitkat Smoothie was not made using kitkat but simple cheap quality kind of chocolate balls. Gulab Jamun could not be broken with a spoon nor fork nor a butter knife, had to use hands to tear them apart being more flour than it's supposed to be. Seems more like Rubber Jamun where it's just funny now to the point where we do not understand why this place is allowed to be setup in Bamabalapitiya ruining the original taste of the original branch. Too much sugar everywhere without the need for it. They have been trying to send us out since we arrived there, perhaps the hospitality wasn't well since we were about to leave at about 11 or so only. Yet the food is supposed to taste the same nonetheless of the time where they shouldn't add other items to the food when they lack an ingredient to be used. If a food item wasn't there we would like to recommend to inform us in prior that they don't have instead of bringing whatever that is present there. Good...
