Kaema Sutra — Restaurant in Colombo

Two stars as the fish curry I ordered was tasting yuck and they were not ready to accept the mistake.I got same taste before when I cooked fish with expired ginger garlic paste by mistake. Here they told me it is taste of a special fish cooking essence used widely in Srilanka. Thats the traditional way of cooking in Srilanka. I felt they don't have any respect to the traditional cooking style od Srilanka aa I knew they were lying to me understanding Im a foreigner. Srilankan traditional fish curry cannot be tasted as rotten curd. Anyway they got it changed when I informed them, I have been wandering in Srilanka for a week and I know traditional taste of Srilankan fish curry. Since they lied to me one star only.But the curry was tasty second time so...

Walked in without making a reservation and got seating for two without too much of a hassle. But, they were not too excited about us sitting at a bigger table although there were expats doing the same. Then, They brought the chicken Bento Box instead of the mutton that we ordered. There was a tiny bone in the Boneless Banana-leaf Modha. The above was simply insipid with no taste whatsoever. The mutton lived up to its expectations though. There were a few flies around our table and one got into my drink.

Overall, the experience was average. Staff were polite and obliging but, a few looked like they didn't want to be there and made us feel it.

My experience at the Kaema Sutra Bar area however, has been positive...

ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන් හට නිගරු කර අපේ රටේ 'කළු සුද්දන්ගේ' හෙළුව දිග හරින අමුතු සුත්‍රයක් , කෑම සුත්‍ර තුල අත්වින්දෙමු. හුළඟට ගසාගෙන යන "පොෂ්" සංස්කෘතිය තුල ඉලිප්පෙන්නට ඇති අප්පිරියාව නිසාම අහර නොගෙනම පිටවී ආවෙමු.

Hospitality to expats and H O S T I L I T Y to the locals! The service of the staff was worse ever we could think of.. When we went in there at 2.30 p.m they emphasized it several time that this is going to be the last meal, where they have clearly displayed that lunch is available until 3.00 p.m. Even after,continued to be arrogant, so we left the place as it was not appealing to stay even...
