Annually I stay 120+ nights in 4 or 5 star hotels across 25 countries in Asia and globally. This is the least value and most overrated hotel I’ve been at in many years.
I have no issue paying $170 USD for a hotel. Which is what I paid here. Perhaps the correct value should have been closer to less than a quarter of this. Shocking how different my experience was to what would be expected on any international scale for that price point. And I include Sri Lanka and Colombo - I’ve stayed in many 4/5 stars in this great country and had perfect experiences plus great value for my 100-200$ per night stays.
Some notes for you on my single nights stay with you:
Air conditioner condensation leaking onto the mattress. Wet sheets and clothes. Shower drain blocked and water flowing into the room / carpet. After asking front desk to send maintenance to fix, the smell was unbearable from the drains. Should have changed room or freshened it at least. Really disgusting. Safe not working to lock. We had to carry around the city all night all our valuables Breakfast area full of cigarettes due to being served next to an outdoor smoking area. Also breakfast cutlery and utensils not at all clean to use Breakfast food 2 star at best. Service staff was good, however. Construction ongoing which is fine. But not an excuse to drop all the balls at once. Noisy as expected, but not a major concern. Very slow checkout. Was not even a mini bar to examine. Gym is tiny. Truly tiny and tucked into a corner next to the GM office. Treadmill is broken and doesn’t work. Can only fit a maximum of 2 people working out at once in the whole room. Nothing in room for dental or individual soaps or combs etc. All had to be special request only. No shower cap available. Wi-Fi slow and intermittent. Resorted to using my own hotspot for speed and reliability.
I never write feedback or reviews - who has that much time? This is rare but so extreme that it has to happen for these events. I wish I’d stayed somewhere they cared about their property and their customer. I guess after you won the 2018 and 2019 awards your efforts declined drastically ‘due to Covid’. Sorry to see, but you shouldn’t trick people into buying services from you which you cannot and are not delivering on.
Waste of money and time. Your wall notice in reception states you’ll offer your guests something truly special. I felt the opposite of this....
Read moreDec 2022. Location is perfect. Right across the street from Dutch hospital with its collection of bars and restaurants. Rooms are a little small but bathrooms are nice and everything is spotless. Staff are a little laid back but cheerful and service oriented. There is a collection on restaurants just next door along with a pub. There is also a very nice roof top pub but this is not owned by the hotel.
Edit a year later Feb 24 The roof top pub has closed. The restaurant is run on contract to an outside company. The food here really needs a lot of improvement. The choice and quality is not in keeping with the price. Breakfast is miserable. And so is the dinner. Do not eat here!! The veg pasta was just boiled noodles. The chicken in the curry looked like it had been reheated a few times and was breaking up. Salad was some green leaves and cut onions and sliced cucumber. Coffee was just awful from a hotpot. Brown coffee flavoured water.!No cheese or cold cuts or decent bread. Only some sliced bread. Round buns and cake. Do yourself a favour and just walk across the road to the Hilton hotel and eat at Graze restaurant. For the same price you pay here you will get a buffet option meal that is without exaggeration 20 times better. Most of the restaurants at the Dutch hospital are similarly overpriced with generally lack lustre food. Mostly tourists only here. Very few locals. Always a indication of what your getting.!! Ministry of crab is in a different league. Great food at a price. The noise from pub next door as mentioned in other reviews is very disturbing. If your joining the party its great but if you want a peaceful nights sleep, forget it. I was in a 8th floor room(highest) and still disturbed. If your on a lower floor-'good luck'. Good thing its not every day.! The standards of cleanliness and hygiene have been maintained. Which is great. There are Small windows which do not let in much light. Cannot be opened. Good for an over night or 2 nights stay maximum.Lots of tour groups now and your visit to the front desk could take some time. I still like this hotel for its location and rooms. But after a couple of nights here Im now shifting back to my favourite hotel Cinnamon red for the...
