I spent 3 unforgettable nights (Jan 31 - Feb 3, 2019,) in this hotel with payment of 160usd (28,800 rupee) to Agoda. On Jan 31 check-in, hotel put me in the room 409 which is the smoke soaked, terribly looking room of back side. I  could smell “CHEATING” so I refused strongly . Then they offered room 305. But air-con was emitting WARM air. Bathroom water was trickling. Power was totally out and back but not BACK to the room, cardkey slot contact problem. Safety box has no handle.and I was asked to use the battery compartment hole to open!!! But They just keep saying the room is Ok. And I finally  decided to escape and contacted Agoda. They said  I can cancel if I forget the money already paid. I could forget but i made up mind to stay as i do not like to make them happy with money fallen from sky!!!  Then again I was moved to room 204. But the first night started with nightmare of BIG sound of live music thru Veranda. Sound continued mid night after 12 o'clock!!! Day 2 of Feb 1, afternoon back to my room after tour. HOTEL did not clean bathroom. Only changed towel. Waste box and garbages were still there. I decided NOT to call and wait/see what will happen the NEXT day.   Feb 2, they finally cleaned bathroom after two nights. Room card is valid one day and should go to reception everyday to activate the card. UNBELIEVABLE. Just don't sleep in this hotel. Also don't sleep at Fort. Fort is small with colonial buildings of no maintenance. Take a taxi and spend a few hours to look and back to your hotel. No reason to stay and sleep at Fort. PS: I have above photos and sound recording. I also posted this story to Agoda

My experience at this hotel was incredibly disappointing. At the start of my Sri Lanka trip, I asked the hotel to store my winter clothes, which they accepted and provided a receipt for. However, when I returned at the end of my trip to retrieve my bags, I was shocked to find that they were empty. Over $1000 worth of my clothes had gone missing, and the hotel refused to take any responsibility for the loss. This situation left me extremely frustrated and upset. I would not recommend staying here due to the lack of accountability and poor customer service.

Probably the worst place to have your food in colombo.😡 We noticed that there was a snail on the mint leaves which was served in the Mojito after having a few sips This is not acceptable at all as a mistake. Worst experience had in a restaurant as such.🤬😡😡 The Best thing was that the management or any responsible person didn't had the courtesy to apologize for such a huge thing happened in their restaurant. Also more issues were there with the food served and this place is not recommended at all for any person who come to have their food.

I've stayed at this hotel three times, with my most recent visit being the first after Covid. It seems the hotel has decided to embrace a post-apocalyptic theme after it. I cannot recommend this hotel and will avoid staying here in the future. The only giving credit for its location. Here’s a breakdown of my experience:||||Payment: I booked through Booking.com, and upon arrival, the reception generously charged my credit card without bothering to ask for permission – while I was standing right in front of them with the same card in hand! How thoughtful! As a Reservation Manager myself, I could easily dispute this with my bank, but who doesn’t love a good surprise charge? They didn’t even ask me to sign a slip, which shows a refreshing level of trust. I’m sure this will work out great for them when dealing with fraud guests and chargebacks.||||Room Condition: The rooms are old and stained. The hotel desperately needs renovation. might be the owners are saving on maintenance costs to preserve the hotel's "character" and vintage style. ||||Bathroom Amenities: The bathroom amenities are minimalist. There were only two pieces of soap and two small, half-empty shampoo bottles. No shower gel, who needs those luxuries? I will not even mention toothbrush, or toothpaste. The hotel is encouraging us to embrace a simpler lifestyle. ||||Noise: If you’re looking for a restful night, look elsewhere. The constant sound of moving furniture throughout the night adds a thrilling layer of mystery. Was it the guests? Ghosts? Who knows! It’s like a live horror movie.||||WiFi: Oh, lastly, elusive WiFi! No one even mentioned it, let alone provided a password or login details. Who needs internet in this day and age anyway.||||In conclusion, don’t waste your money here. It’s better to pay a bit more and...

A good location but you pay for location with noise and hassle from street sellers and beggars.|We were originally given a room which overlooked the internal courtyard but the smell was awful. The courtyard is a smoking area and the only window overlooked it. The smell was overpowering and the room also smelt damp and musty. The staff's initial response was to spray the room which did nothing.|We were moved to a front room with a small balcony but single glazed and doors that didnt close properly made it very noisy. I believe smoking is also permitted in rooms though there are signs saying not to throw cigarette butts from balcony.|The room was not very clean. Bedding and towels both were marked. Beds were also not comfortable.|There are not enough plugs for modern travellers.|WiFi did not work in room but management did provide a router . Though this used one of the few plugs.|Bathroom was tired and although not dirty it wasn't clean as could be seen from getting dirty feet after a shower. There was also less than half a roll of toilet paper and only a small used piece of soap. |The roof bar was nice with lovely views but the music going on until midnight kept us awake and then moving the equipment was unnecessary at that time.|Breakfast was poor. Fellow guests who ate at 7am found good choice and good service. An hour later there was minimal choice and the food appeared to have been out for a long time. The egg station cook was not good and either over or under cooked food. The staff were sitting at a table drinking tea rather than...
