A most wonderful experience when it comes to a combination of history and the sea vibe.
So, one day we decided to go to a restaurant near the beach to have some dinner and on the way we stumbled across this wonder of a light house. Through this visit there is plenty for me to say.
So, first of all the main requirement for building this light house was that the beam of the previous light house was obstructed by the buildings. So, the initial building process initiated in the late 1820's and it was completed in the 1950s. It was first lit in 1952 by honorable DS. Senanayake. And up to to this day it stands strong paving the way for ships. You can find all the information about this is the stone carvings in the walls of the light house.
As you go up you can a get a get view of Colombo but I have to say that it is not the most attractive sight as the great view is obstructed by the buildings. You occasionally do get sea breeze. But, unfortunately it is not available to go to the top of it as special permission in mandatory. It was maintained alright and for all this the visit is free as no reservations are needed and there is no wait as well.
If you are feeling hungry there is the most exquisite restaurant known as The Light House Gallery.
If you have a goal to learn about history while incorporating a sea vibe and a moderate view this is the number one place to go. RECOMMEND THIS...
