Nestled in the historic charm of Colombo, the Traveller’s Bar is a true gem that captures the essence of this beautiful city. Located in the oldest British hotel in Sri Lanka, the bar offers a perfect blend of history, elegance, and stunning views of the ocean.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor reflects a delightful mix of colonial charm and modern aesthetics, creating a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance. What truly took our breath away, however, was the breathtaking view of the ocean. It’s hard to beat sipping on a delicious drink while watching the waves crash against the shore, especially at sunset.
Speaking of drinks, the Traveller’s Bar features a fun and creative cocktail menu, with each drink cleverly named after celebrities. This unique touch added an extra layer of enjoyment to our experience.
To complement the drinks, we ordered a selection of Arabic Mezze, and the food did not disappoint. Each dish was bursting with flavor, showcasing both local and international influences.
We were genuinely glad to have found the Traveller’s Bar during our stay. It’s a perfect spot for relaxing after a day of exploring the city or for a romantic evening out. The combination of stunning ocean views, creative cocktails, and delicious food makes it a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists alike. Whether you’re looking for a place to unwind or to enjoy a lively atmosphere, the Traveller’s Bar is...
Read moreWe have been to the Galle face hotel a few times for dinner. This was the first time we went to the Travellers’ Bar. We went here for dinner on a Sunday night. The atmosphere is always beautiful, the classiness of the hotel, the decor, the location - by the ocean, and also the food. This time it was very unpleasant and possibly the final time we would go here. The quality of the food has really degraded, in terms of quality and taste. The meals we ordered were less than mediocre and small portions for the high prices. The pork chop we ordered was disappointing, over cooked and charred. This particular dish was amazing when we visited the hotel in Nov 2022, which we looked forward to having. The other meals; the beef stew with rice and curry was ok, and so was the fish and chips. The prices are very high and the taxes and service charges makes it almost not worth coming, knowing that there are competing restaurants in the area. The service was slow and it could be because of the time...
Read moreFood, Service and Atmosphere is superb. The reason I am leaving a 2 stars review it is because the manager of the Traveller's Bar who always say no to customer before saying yes, for a 5 stars hotel, this is not acceptable. We came 2 weeks before to announce that we were coming a group a 15+ at 9am and we will require a la carte service. We were told that no reservation was required and the a la carte service will be available for us, no need for more arrangements. The day we came with the group, the manager told us that a la carte service was not possible until 11am, only the buffet could be used. We were starving and this situation made our group angry. After an argument, the rest of the staff made everything possible to make us having a good time and served us food as the manager stayed in his strict unflexible position. It is the second time in a few months that I have a situation with this manager. It is time that Galle Face Hotel clean the bad apple of...
