A Special Stay at The Hotel Archive – Galle Fort’s Hidden Gem
We recently stayed at The Hotel Archive in Galle Fort, and honestly, it was one of the most memorable hotel experiences we’ve had.
The hotel itself is beautiful—thoughtfully designed, blending old-world charm with modern comfort. It’s tucked right inside the historic Galle Fort, so you’re steps away from the cobbled streets, cozy cafes, and the iconic ramparts, but the atmosphere inside the hotel is calm and peaceful, like a quiet retreat from the buzz outside.
But what really made our stay so special was the service, especially from Mohammed Ismail. We arrived very late at night due to some travel delays, and despite the hour, Ismail actually woke up in the middle of the night to help us check in. He greeted us with such warmth and kindness, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare—and we were so grateful.
Throughout our stay, he continued to be incredibly helpful, always with a smile and ready to assist with anything. It felt like staying with a friend who genuinely cared.
The rooms were spacious, super clean, and full of character. The little details—from the local design elements to the cozy bedding—really made it feel special. Breakfast was also a treat, with fresh fruit, eggs made to order, and some delicious Sri Lankan dishes.
If you’re visiting Galle and want a stay that feels personal, authentic, and full of heart, we can’t recommend The Hotel Archive enough. Huge thanks to Mohammed Ismail for making our trip even more memorable. We’ll...
Read moreA very sad experience: finally today with my husband and a dear friend of us, we decided to have lunch to this restaurant. I had been in early July with a friend and really liked both the environment and the food and therefore today I was very excited at the idea of sharing the experience with my husband ... We arrived at the entrance of the restaurant in the car and made my husband and friend wentdown, I drove to park the car. Upon my arrival, a rather embarrassed staff member tells us that the restaurant was closed for a private event... I remain disappointed and perplexed since all the staff was outside on the street-facing veranda: if there was an event, shouldn't they have set everything up?!? Considering our friend has difficulty walking due to his advanced age, we decide to stop at the restaurant next door. We had lunch and then walk towards the car; obviously we passing in front of the restaurant: completely empty! We were probably not the type of customers for their target ... if you are an elderly and you have some health problems, avoid it ... I have been living in Sri Lanka for twenty years and I have never happened to me such a situation ... maybe because I...

Nestled in the heart of the historic Galle Fort, this new restaurant is redefining the fine dining experience in the south of Sri Lanka.
From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by an ambiance that perfectly balances contemporary sophistication with the charm of the Fort’s colonial heritage. The menu is a masterpiece of creativity and flavour, offering a fusion of local and international dishes that are as visually stunning as they are delicious.
The culinary experience doesn’t stop there. The cocktail menu is equally impressive, with expertly crafted drinks that are as bold and inventive as the food.
We didn’t have a chance to spent in Galle this time but were shown stylish rooms upstairs - elegant, airy, and thoughtfully designed, they offer a seamless blend of comfort and luxury.
This establishment is not just another restaurant in Fort; it’s a destination.
Whether you're here for a romantic dinner or a chic weekend retreat, it promises an unforgettable experience in every way.
