I and my wife were in Galle only for a day. I must say we were really Lucky to have found Fort Lucky Restaurant. They serve 10 curries with rice. 9 of them are vegetarian and one Chicken curry. All of the curries had a different taste and no repetition of flavours. So, we got excited with each of the curries that were served as it reminded us of home cooked food by my mom. The taste of the food was very much similar to our food in India, although Sri Lankan taste has its own recognition. We ordered for the salted Lassi which was brilliant. Among all the curries, the one I liked the most was the pineapple curry. The restaurant is a small but cozy setup. Chandu was our host and server. He is a gem of a person. He was waiting on all tables and was working pretty hard. Yet he had a smile on his face. I wish him all the best and wish him a great fortune. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. It’s...
Read moreWe went to lucky fort restaurant this evening. There was no one in the restaurant and we went there to support small & local business in town. We ordered rice & curry, milk rice, and vegetable fried noodles with fish. My son who is 11 years old got the vegetable fried noodles with fish. When I taste the fish, it was spoiled and you can even smell it.. unfortunately my son already had few bits before I caught it. I guess it’s too much ask for fresh fish when you live in a island! When I told them fish was bad they told us their fridge wasn’t working properly that’s how fish went bad. At this point I’m hoping my son would not get sick for rest of the time here. Then I taste the milk rice my daughter had. It tasted like they made milk rice with cow’s milk. Rice & curry was ok.. it wasn’t like wow and amazing! We were very disappointed. They took both meals of the bill as we expected. But we will...
Read moreWe enjoyed our dinner a lot! They serve 10 different curry's and rice (more than enough for 2 reasonably hungry people). Their place is a bit far away from the main street but easily accessible. The food is cooked by the mother - who apparently is also knowledgeable about Ayurvedic treatments and thought some to her daughter, Hansi. Hansi shared a lot of information about the food (including some recipes), Sri Lankan culture, and suggested some Ayurvedic treatments. She also recommended a local pharmacy where we could find a lot of Ayurvedic ingredients (oils, powders, etc) for a very cheap price! I highly recommend Luck Fort not only for a bite but also for their freshly prepared juices or just for a chat...
