Sadly huge disappointment. The biggest surprise was the 30-minute time limit for using a computer. I understand the concept of time limit but thirty minutes! That’s pretty short. Usually, when you go to a café with friends, you end up sitting much longer. I’ve never seen a time limit like that in a Swedish café before.

Coffee was decent. Not bad, not amazing. I had a cheese sandwich that seemed to have had a light brush of oil. The bun had a slightly oily surface, which isn’t really my thing, but some people might like it.

The interior is industrial-minimalist, which I usually love, but here it is executed poorly.

This is our first time visiting Gerd since its location change. We have been waiting for this for months! When we walked into the beautiful interior, consisting of an open kitchen, metal accents and trendy furniture, we knew we would not be disappointed. The coffee was outstanding. A distinct flavour with a smooth mouthfeel. We got the iced latte and it was just as good as we remember. We also tried the grilled sandwiches, one cheese and one tuna. The bread is fresh and crisp. The most authentic Swedish café in Gothenburg. Gerd in Linné is an absolute gem. The carrot cake is spot on moist, flavorful, and topped with just the right amount of frosting. And the grilled cheese? Easily the best in the city.

The two brothers running the place are incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. I also really appreciate that they’ve set some limits on laptop use; the café is very popular, and it can get crowded during peak hours, so it’s great that they’re keeping the space welcoming and available for everyone.
