Love this place, was for a week in Gothenburg, Had a great service at the bar down stairs both monday and Thursday. then on Friday me and a buddy went upstairs to listen to some live music, Iris band who played all kinds of good old music like CCR and more, so much fun. With a group of guys (we are in our 40s and 30s) vi skip a Salsa club to go there. We are 6 total and have a few rounds. I have to take a plane in the morning so I am not drinking heavily. All of a sudden after 2 hrs there the bouncer comes up to me and says I have to leave, I am to intoxicated. I said no u are wrong and after a little dispute the Bouncer puts his hands on my and I end up defending myself, only to find myself wrestling with 3 bouncers. Now since I don´t EVER get in a fight, I surrender only if they promise to talk to me. After a little talk and the main bouncer threatens to contain me just to spike me so I will loose my flight, I found out they where deliberately targeting me cause they thought I was a regular and a friend of someone called Janne.... Even after everybody there telling the bouncers that I was NOT over intoxicated and after me proving who I was and I was just on a vacation, They still gave me a hard time and I got thrown out of there. A sad ending to a Great night, only cause Swedish Bouncers are total Idiots. I don´t know what company they hire to take care of their security, but I do hope the Dubliners as a establishment rethinks...
Read moreThe Dubliner was a nice pub to visit before heading back to the UK. It's split into two sides, the pub and the restaurant area. The food in the restaurant appeared quite pub-like though and was quite expensive.
I had the ribs, wasn't too impressed, the meat wasn't the greatest quality and the sauce over the top was cold but the salad, fries and coleslaw was nice. I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't as expensive (I think it worked out to around £18 just for the meal and £7 for the small glass of wine). The alcohol was quite pricy out there so that wasn't as much of a surprise. There was lots of food, I just guess the quality wasn't as good as expected.
The atmosphere in the pub was great, staff were friendly, the place looked clean. They had the football in the pub and in the area we were sitting. There was an area in the restaurant that didn't look to have the TV which I can imagine is a nice separation for some. In the area we were sitting was covered in wallpaper that looked like books so when the TV is off and the pub area is quiet I can imagine it's quite a sophisticated looking area. Location was close to ships, café's, other restaurants and near a bus stop where you can catch the shuttle bus to...
Read moreTravellers beware. I went with my wife to have a bottle of prosecco. We were enjoying ourselves and left the 7/11 bag full of essentials for our kids. When trying to leave with a taxi, I offered a tall man one of my cigarettes when asked.
As i walked to the taxi...he jumped on top of me from behind (taxi driver as witness) i pushed him back...and what followed was a comedy of errors. Six police men immediately showed up, on call from the security guard. Five police men interrogated my wife while a female policewoman interrogated me.
After 20 minutes the police asked if the tall man by the tree was the one who attacked me. I said yes...and as he was very drunk, and apparently known to them...they said ok lets forget about it they and let us go home.
This unnecessary drama would not have happened if the security guard had stepped in and done his job. Instead he panicked and ran away and called the Police.
The proprietors did nothing to help. The bar owners did not return my food from 7/11 meant for our kids. They owe us approximately 50 euros as we were to perplexed by the sudden event to collect it.
