AVOID! I love coffee and I brew a lot myself. I'm a proud owner of an Aeropress, Chemex and v60. With that said, the coffee at Kafferosteriet is mediocre compared to other brands like Coffee Collective, Koppi and even Solde (a great coffee place nearby)
But that's not why you want to go here right? From the outside it seems like a cozy nice place and to the extent of the building and the garden I would agree. However, once you get inside you'll notice a strange tension. The baristas rarely smile and they all seem stressed, even when the place is empty!
The reason is its owner, he is terrible! And probably a sociopath. I travel a lot and because of my love for coffee I also visit many coffee places abroad. I've never experienced such harassment anywhere in the world.
The owner (feel free to read other comments) has a habit of insulting his customers. Are you working on a laptop? Shame on you. Do you happen to wear the wrong colors? Shame on you.
Somewhere behind the scenes (I'm not joking), the owner is scouting for his next victim. He is not working as a barista so you won't see him until he decides to sit down at your table. And when he does, he will let you know how bad you are and how a proper customer should behave. It is a surreal experience, especially if you don't notice him until he is already sitting next to you. As you can imagine it doesn't leave a good aftertaste.
If you want great service, relaxed atmosphere and a wonderful coffee,...
Read moreI came for a takeaway coffee. The guy accidentally made it in a drink-in cup, he rechecked the receipt and saw it said takeaway. He asked if he could pour the coffee into a takeaway cup 😳. Any coffee connoisseur, or even anyone, will know that that disrupts the unique layers of the specific coffee. In my case, the coffee, steamed milk and foamed milk would have mixed, making it a milk coffee. Sadly, this is the difference between a shop that sells coffee and a coffee shop. Super disappointing - not because it’s the end of the world, but because a shop with a good reputation should know much better.
When I ask him to remake it, he did, but there was begrudging vibe that made me a little uncomfortable for asking for it how it should be served.
We’re foodie influencers (with over 2.5 mil followers across our platforms) and were coming in for an unofficial test round (we do 3-5 per place we feature) as a hot spot for coffee. We’re here reviewing places over the next 2 months, we may come back and give you...
Read moreUpon reading other people's comments it seems I am not the only one that has been harassed by the owner of this cafe.
I had a carrot cake (which was delicious) and a coffee to go with it and planned on enjoying the late afternoon at lilla Kafferosteriet in town. My visit quickly turned sour when the owner decided to come and give me a lecture about how his coffeeshop is not an office. So I put my laptop back in me bag and read a book instead. I would completely understand if there were no other tables but the place was not crowded and closing in an hour. Who was I disturbing?!
As if that wasn't enough, before he left the cafe, the owner decided to check on me. He came over to my table, with his jacket on ready to go, just so he could give me a long aggressive stare before he left.
Staff seem generally stressed which is completely understandable with a passive aggressive boss like that.
Such a shame since the cafe itself is super cosy and the coffee...
