Aubergine — Restaurant in Stockholm

Our last night in Stockholm, and this made a great place for a final dinner.

Reservations are recommended (though they were able to seat us without them).

FOOD: Starters and mains were tasty and high quality. We all had something different, and we enjoyed everything. I recommend the Gnocchi Arrabiata.

Cocktails were also quite good. The "Spicy Margarita" had a distinct jalapeno flavor and a bit of a zing, but was very palatable and went well with the food.

SERVICE: Service was thoughtful and pleasant, if a bit difficult to get the attention of at times. The headwaiter was on his toes, constantly filling in where needed. As with most places in Sweden, even if you decline dessert you'll still need to ask to have your check brought.

ATMOSPHERE: Pleasant, rich (but not gaudy or chi-chi) decor and ambiance.

NET-NET: Dinner for three, with starters, mains, and a couple of cocktails came to around 650 SEK, which is quite a good value for the quality.

Had dinner at Aubergine and it was a great experience; the peppered veal was cooked to the point without being dry, the roasted artichoke creme was superb and sauce and vegetables extremely tasty. Only had a beer but they seem to have a goo selection of wines too. Creme brulee for dessert was very well prepared. Servings were generous enough in size. Interior os very nice; the place was packed so it was a little noisy, but not too an extend where it became disturbing. Despie being fully booked, the service team was very attentive and quick, always polite and helpful.

Some comments criticize the 2h stay policy; in my experience this is common for most restaurants in major cities around Europe these days and it is clearly communicated at reservation time. If you want to stay longer it's advisable to make such a request directly when filling the...

I normally don’t leave reviews but the experience today made me want to write one. We had a dinner booking from 17:30 until 19:30 and almost after the first 15-20 minutes at the restaurant a waiter started reminding us that we need to leave at 19:30 and there was not much time left to make an order. He kept coming back every 3-5 minutes, rushing us into making an order and reminding us that this table has the next booking at 19:30. I understand that my booking ends at 19:30 (which itself is ridiculous) but I don’t want to be reminded that I need to leave almost from the very beginning since I entered. The waiter came by at least 5-7 times to remind us we needed to leave soon.
