Definitely worth a visit, because of the starters - Gyoza (esp. the mushroom choice). Simple, light and outstanding. The Bao buns are also quite good, but fell short of being equally amazing. I ordered the Duck Bao and it was slightly under, so the duck fat didn't render properly - maybe rushed by the kitchen - and was chewy and disappointing. For mains, the Sashi dish was very good, and that salmon couldn't have bene more tender, or l-seasoned/flavored. The chicken Panang curry was disappointing, and lacked proper depth. If it was homemade (i suspect not), then a little more effort is needed to bring it up to a real Panang curry flavor, rather than tasting similar to a red curry with added sugar. Tasty, with a sweet flavor, but not close to an authentic Panang curry in the real sense.
The BIO-wines are to be avoided, unless you don't mind what you drink with dinner. Bad after-taste from the BIO Chenin Blanc, and TBH I should have known after seeing the cloudy consistency of the wine in the bottle - warning signs are to be acted upon. Maybe stick to beer, if you prefer an alcoholic beverage with dinner.
Service was good, but the whole dining experience didn't quite hit the mark with us. I hope your dining adventure is enjoyable at Magnolia and maybe you'll find the magic...
Read moreMe & my girlfriend dropped in yesterday and waited by the door to be seated for quite sometime because the waitress totally ignored us. She kept on going back and forth with clearly nothing to do! Laughing with her colleague in the kitchen! We were fed up so we went to the bar, the lady there was kinda embarrassed and said the other waitress was the boss that day ; Thursday the 19th of August. Only then that waitress decided to notice us!! She was quite arrogant. She said that they had no available tables just now and we should come back after half an hour. Well half of the tables in and outside the restaurant were empty!! I don’t know about this restaurant policy but as I know if the tables are reserved then a reservation can only be held for 15 minutes!!! I’m not upset that we didn’t get a table, I am rather upset for the way we...
Read moreSuch a lovely location for a restaurant. Although it was Pan Asian ,it felt a bit like a bar in Texas with the loud country music and stock photos of old men on the walls. Although the staff were so lovely, the food was not. Almost €30 for a "Korean" salad with "spicy" sauce, there was no spice, and I'm still frying to figure out what was Korean about a salad with some rice, tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, pickled beetroot (instead of mooli?) capers, pomegranate seeds, raw cabbage and some unseasoned chanterelles on top, was very bland with a pot of plain creamy sauce? Portobello mushroom bao was ok, left feeling hungry. Friend had a fly in her beer on arrival...I'd say the cocktails were...
