I booked in for a special occasion dinner (3 weeks in advance), our anniversary based off the reviews. I mentioned that I am vegetarian BEFORE asking them to make the reservation. They said that they do have a vegetarian menu, so I said please book it in for one vegetarian and one regular menu for my husband. We asked for 7pm (I have this is writing), and they said seating times for our date were 6 or 8:30pm, so we agreed to 6. The reception was really odd and they tried to put us in the corner squished between two other tables. My husband reminded the server/manager that it is our anniversary, and we’d like to sit in the window seat. He said that it’s booked for “a regular customer who comes at 7pm.” That told us: 1. They only care about those who bring in regular money., 2. They let others dine at 7pm, but not ok for us. We reluctantly sat down in the assigned table as everyone was listening as it’s a very small and somewhat awkward set up. We saw only the regular menus set in front of us. My husband asked the waiter when he came over if they have a vegetarian menu. He said that they do have me down as a vegetarian. My husband asked again, if we could see it, and the waiter said that they don’t have a printed copy. So my husband asked what I would be having. The man said it’s “just like the regular menu, only without meat.”. My husband then said “so you just take off the meat and don’t add anything to prop up the dish?”. The waiter shrugged and asked what we would like to drink. As discreetly as possible (which is difficult in such a small room with two couples right next to us), we declined and said we’ll be finding somewhere else. It was incredibly awkward and I had hesitated to leave, but I am so glad that we did. They made it very clear that they didn’t care about us, they lied about times, and didn’t prepare anything different for my vegetarian menu. We asked our hotel to find us a last minute reservation, which ended up being perfect and in Old Town where it’s beautiful. I can’t rate the food here because we didn’t try it, but nothing could have recovered the reception we received and the almost hostile waiter/manager who initially greeted us. I so wanted this to be a sure bet wonderful evening to celebrate our anniversary, but it was the opposite. I apologized to my husband so many times for picking this place. Hopefully this is a learning moment for the...
Read moreA quiet gem with Michelin-worthy food and a touch of personality
I discovered Nisch thanks to a ChatGPT recommendation — and what a fine tip it was.
The restaurant has a clean, minimalistic elegance — everything in its place, nothing overdone. I was lucky to be seated in a cozy, discreet corner away from the main buzz. For those who seek life and energy, the central dining room is full of vibrant atmosphere. But for someone like me, who prefers a slower rhythm and quieter setting, the side table offered perfect serenity.
The food? Let’s just say if Michelin gave out half-stars, Nisch would be somewhere around 1.2. Every dish was thoughtful, beautifully plated, and above all — deeply enjoyable. Fine dining without the stiffness, flavors that speak for themselves.
Service was excellent overall — with one small misstep. One of the waiters reacted with a bit of superiority when I didn’t quite catch everything in his English. He was, to be fair, much more fluent than I am — but still, a little kindness goes a long way. Thankfully, another waiter made up for it with charm and genuine warmth. No peacock feathers, just good vibes.
Prices were surprisingly reasonable for this level of cooking. Nisch offers the rare mix of precision, soul, and humility. I sincerely wish them all the best in this tough industry. May more people discover this little marvel — and may they find themselves seated in the corner where food and peace...
Read moreIt's fine dining but there's something missing. It feels too less of something. A lack of something, like the little luxury details that I enjoy in fine dining restaurants, I miss those details here. It does not feel luxury enough for the price you're paying for. White beans? Come on.. They don't give me the satisfaction or the wow feeling that I want to experience when I pay for a dinner like this. The wine, a very expensive riesling, was the best of all night. The food didn't impress me at all. They are miles away from Tegelbacken and Hantverket. Also no luxury details in the bathroom. A fine dining restaurant should have real hand towels and also fresh flowers, and hand lotion. All those details make the whole impression of luxury so much stronger. You should think about that. Guide Michelin thinks about ALL details, not only the food. Service was fine, the sommelier knew his stuff. But the service was a little less on the edge than at a Michelin restaurant. I prefer super professionalism when paying so much for the visit. It was fun to try, but won't come back. They need years...
