Bad start, we got seated at an uncomfortable corner at the bar, which would have been fine except for that there were lots of empty tables still by the time we left (-1 star). Worse, only 1/6 dishes we liked (-1 star). The crab was the worst probably, tasted really strange. By the end we tried to get the attention of staff for the bill, which was difficult, so eventually we asked the guy at the bar if he could help us get the bill - he nodded but nothing happened so after another ten+ minutes I managed to get a waitress to notice us (but still -1 star). Disappointing, in summary. Might try the ramen for takeaway next time though, based on other reviews đ Update, I had dinner with my parents at a restaurant here in Stockholm and we ordered soft shell crab, (which was great as usual when you order this from Japanese restaurants) - and my parents said that they had been to a restaurant where the soft shell crab was really disgusting before, and we came to realise that they were also talking about rawbata. Apparently they had also been there and had an equally poor experience. I will try again in some time maybe, my wife and I have been to almost all Japanese food restaurants in Stockholm and many in London too when we lived there. Never has it been this bad so I am hoping it will be...
Read moreThe service was nice and friendly. They did however mix up some stuff and service shouldn't be handed over in the middle.
The food was good, tasty, small portions. 5 is enough to fill your belly. They could offer 7 dishes as well for the hungry fellow. They could as well charge a bit more and increase portions slightly.
The food was good, but it wasn't that great. I think they should work more on the seasoning, some tastes where rather blend then actually popping out.
The Hotate was nice and soft, but the sides didn't make anything to the dish.
The Negi Maki was the most tasty dish and the only one who made me feel I wanted more, even though it was one of the last dishes.
The Ebi was tasty but again not spicy at all, rather blend taste...
The Ramchoppu had an interesting flavour, quite nice.
The Tataki was really good, they could have used a little bit more of fish roe/caviar to add saltyness.
The restaurant is nicely located on a street closed to traffic and there is some seating outside now in the summer. We sat inside and that was also nice being able to see the kitchen...
Read moreRawbata changed their menu a week before my visit. While I haven't been here before, my friend said that the previous menu was much better than the previous one. We both got an omakase set: one mixed meat and seafood, and one purely meat (mine).
The kaarage was crunchy, tender and flavorful, albeit on the saltier side. The rest didn't stand out much; nothing out of the ordinary. The grilled corn was a bit too charred in certain spots, giving you a bitter bite instead of bringing out its natural sweetness. It makes me curious how the dishes tasted like from the previous menu, and why the change if they were tasteful and highly recommended.
What stood out for me when dining there was the experience. The ambiance of the restaurant gave an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well, finding a way to tailorfit the dishes to my friend's dietary preferences. Kudos to...
