I write very few reviews but our meal/experience tonight at Restaurang Triton must be fully recognized, appreciated and discussed. Where to begin?!! It was a 3 course meal which we expanded by one course and dessert. King fish sashimi, beef tartar (the addition), fresh ricotta ravioli, roasted chicken with asparagus and apricots, and finally vanilla ice cream with strawberries topped with a green “herb” I can’t remember.
I am no culinary reviewer or editor so I do not have the appropriate or elaborate language to honor each of these dishes.
In my words … The King fish sashimi was flavorful, so smooth. The fresh sour cream, herbs and small pieces of white asparagus atop blended perfectly into each bite of the fish. The fish tasted sparkling fresh. Went down like silk.
The beef tartar topped with caviar and wilted lettuce. The tender beef with the texture of the lettuce and the pop and salt of the caviar - fantastic. Since this was an addition to our menu, we shared 2 orders between 4. Our sharing was exact, no one got more than their half!
The ravioli - truly the best I have ever had. Perfect packages of yellow pasta of just the right size for a generous single bite. Perfect consistency. Filled with a milky fresh ricotta. It was worth cutting the ravioli in half just to see that ricotta. The sauce - not sure I can describe but finished every drop of it with the hearty crusted bread that was served.
The chicken. A perfectly roasted piece of breast and another piece of thigh. Both with a thin crunchy layer of skin. Both succulent but of contrasting flavor. The roasting juices over the meat, blanched asparagus, and segments of apricot added to the overall “juiciness” of the entire dish. Simple but details all just right.
And for dessert. Vanilla ice cream dreamy creamy with the freshest strawberries that were so cold and crisp, just shy of frozen. The “herb” garnish on top just added another level of freshness.
The food was served at a perfect pace. Our waiter was personable and offered just the right amount of advice during all parts of our meal - from the wine, to adding to our menu, to dessert and finally even gave us some recommendations of things to do/see while in Stockholm.
The two chefs in the open kitchen were intent and busy but not harried and we enjoyed watching them prepare the food as we ate. Oh, and these chefs also made careful dietary accommodations for one of us who has multiple food intolerances and is gluten-free.
There was a collection of vinyl records and a phonograph playing them on the wall by our table. Nice vibe. And not a “touristy” spot. Very authentic.
So, a truly memorable meal on all counts. We thank you Restaurang Triton! What an auspicious beginning to our stay...

Triton is a small, popular spot tucked away well outside central Stockholm — best reached by taxi unless you’re feeling adventurous. It’s the kind of place you wouldn’t just stumble into from the street — both because of the location and because tables are booked well in advance.
Once you’re in, it’s clear that Triton doesn’t aim to impress with frills. The menu is written on the wall (yes, really), and you simply go with the flow. No à la carte, no QR codes — just “here’s what we’re serving tonight.” Luckily, what they serve is tasty. Nothing overcomplicated or overly conceptual — just well-cooked, flavorful food. Definitely above average, even if not exactly groundbreaking.
The atmosphere is ultra-informal, almost like stepping into someone’s kitchen with extra candles. A bit cramped, yes — but that’s part of the charm for some (and a minus for others). Prices are refreshingly reasonable for Stockholm, which makes the whole experience feel friendly and unpretentious.
Would I book a month in advance again? Maybe not. But would I come back with friends, on a relaxed evening, when I want good food without...

A place best suited for an "all-eater" such as me with no allergies or "no-goes". My whole taste palette felt used, everything I could have asked for and more with these interesting choices.
Not really an alcohol drinker when it comes to food so I can't really have an opinion there. The water was well chilled though and I never had to ask for more, the waiter made sure of it! (Lovely guy really, very welcoming).
Really liked the music choice though the chairs didn't really do my bony bottom any favours haha!
The location is maybe a bit out of place but me as a small town person kind of enjoyed the calmer side.
Remember to book a table in...
