Taquesitoz — Restaurant in Uppsala kommun

Might be one of the worst dining experiences we've had in Uppsala. Let me start by saying that the place is crammed beyond its capacity with tables that it feels downright claustrophobic. We come in after having booked and the staff looks worried and they say to each other "what are we gonna do?" after realizing they might not have a place for us. We do eventually find a place, but then the food takes at least an hour to arrive and let me tell you...this is tacos we're talking about; it doesn't take that long to make them. Add to that the absolute ABYSMAL service we got from the waitresses who don't know of the concept of smiling. One of them even rolled her eyes at us for saying we needed more time to decide, and when she got us our beers, she slammed them on the table. I swear, it's like the job ad was directed at people who don't want to work. The food was okay but extremely oily and salty. The service, though, absolutely ruined the restaurant for us. How can you guys have such service when you're new and trying to build a customer base? I don't think this place will stay open for much. I myself will never ever...

Taquesitoz är ett sånt där ställe som får en härdad västernbandit eller vanlig småbarnspappa att hänga upp hatten, luta sig tillbaka och glömma dammet från prärien eller lekplatsen för en stund.

Så fort jag klev in kände jag doften av riktiga mexikanska läckerheter. Det var som att bli skjuten rakt i smaklökarna — på bästa möjliga sätt. Birria-tacosen var så möra och smakrika att jag nästan ville störta in i köket och salutera kocken. Och de hade inte bara birria — nej, här fanns alla de där klassikerna man längtat efter efter en lång ritt i solen eller bara vanlig arbetsdag.

Dryckesutbudet var lika imponerande som en välfylld saloonhylla, med allt från iskalla törstsläckare till lite starkare varianter. Min lille pojk var överlycklig när han fick sin Jarritos på Taquesitoz i ett särskilt glas – och såg ut som om han just hittat guld i Rio Grande.

Och för den som gillar att leva farligt fanns där såser så heta att de kunde få en revolverman att svettas under hatten. Själv tog jag en smak av en komaframkallande chilisås och kände hur elden dansade hela vägen ner till stövelspetsarna. När maten väl var avklarad fanns det efterrätter nog för att tämja även den vildaste chili – söta, mjuka och precis rätt avslut på en storslagen måltid. Mycket goda churros kan tilläggas.

Visst, lokalen är lite liten, och varje gång dörren öppnas sveper en kall vind in som om prärien själv ville påminna en om världen där ute. Men stämningen och dekoren – med sina färger, lampor och dofter – gör att man glömmer det snabbare än Clint Eastwood drar sin revolver i westernklassiker.

Så om du rider genom stan och magen kurrar som en arg coyote, styr då dina apostlahästar mot Taquesitoz. Där väntar värme, smaker och en bit av Mexiko – mitt i Uppsalas...

Booked a day in advance, and when we arrived they didn’t have a table ready and all the tables in the restaurant were full. The staff didn’t communicate with us and after 5 minutes of us waiting, they asked us if we could come back in 10 minutes. When we came back no one apologised for the mistake and the server took us to our table without saying a word. We decided to leave as we didn’t feel comfortable staying.
