Casa Novo — Restaurant in Bern

It is located in Bern. The location is very good and the atmosphere is enormous. Because there are many visitors to visit, we will recommend advance reservation. The price is not cheap, but I do not think it is bad because it is a good restaurant. If it is a disadvantage, it is doubtful whether the food is served according to the order of the order. And I ordered more than two beers, but I did not get a drink except for the first beer. I felt uncomfortable even though they were very busy. But the surrounding scenery is quite pretty and I think it is worth a visit. The taste of the food is not bad. The meal was satisfactory. However, I do not know if I will go again because there are disadvantages clearly.

I went to Casa Novo for a celebration. The food was exquisite, and we were quite satisfied with the wine selection. We had a delicious Kir Royale as aperitif and accompanied our fish dinner with a tasty Swiss pinot blanc.

The main meal (tuna) was exquisite in flavour and texture. We truly fell in love with a soy glaze that was included and paired well with the tuna and tartare. This was the highlight of the night.

The black tiger shrimp ceviche was refreshing. Compared to the main dish, the ceviche didn´t compare in flavour balance, but it was quite refreshing and enjoyable. Perhaps I'm too used to the stronger flavoured ceviches from Central America that are quite strong and outstanding.

I do agree with previous reviews that the wine selection is a bit overpriced. On this occasion, we knew to expect the price as we checked before, so we have no complaints about this particular experience.

Personally, this was the worst dining experience I had so far in Bern or Switzerland in general. Although I booked one week in advance, they ran out of the 5 course-menu (???) and they offered 3 courses instead. And they didn’t pay proper attention to the table- when we arrived in our reserved table we found a basket with only one slice of bread-yes, it was LEFTOVERS. I mean, c‘mon guys, you have a great view of the Aare and a beautiful terrace, but your service is unprofessional and you clearly have a problem in the kitchen. They ran out of fish for the menus main course „Surf n Turf“ and replaced with shrimp instead, without giving a heads-up. And no, the fish in the said course was not local or fresh - this would justify the limited availability.
