Kreissaal Bar — Restaurant in Bern

If I could give zero stars I would.

I was at this bar March 30th 2022 in the evening with 3 co-workers . We were greeted at the door by the Bar Tender as soon as we walked in, and he asked us how he could help us (first red flag). We told him we would like a few drinks and he told us to sit at a table.

Just as the drinks were brought to our table, a couple of guys sitting at a table next to ours started harassing us. One of them bumped his chair into one of us (second red flag) then they asked us where we were from, we told them the United States They called us liars, they said we were from Canada, and said we must be cops, asked us who we were there to arrest, etc. all the time this was happening, the Bar Tender just watched form behind the bar , nothing else.

I went up to pay so we could leave, while the others stayed at the table being harassed, called names and threatened. The Bar Tender ignored me for a good 5 minutes until I called out to him.

The whole time this was happening, all of the people at the bar and the other tables, kept their heads down to avoid getting involved. Such a shame and poor reflection of the patrons.

very nice drink and atmosphere overall but I just don’t get it why they don’t serve shots..We asked kindly yesterday for a few rum shots but they said out of “principle” they can’t serve it…what kind of bar doesn’t serve shots out of principle 🙃Are they afraid of people getting drunk?I mean it’s a bar right?Aren’t people suppose to get drunk in a bar?Anyway I got a minor culture shock...

Extrem unfreundlich und wiederliche Atmosphäre… Wir waren am Abend etwas trinken: Zuerst wurden wir ignoriert dann konnten wir bestellen… 2 Anfängerdrinks die nichts taugten. Man musste selber an der Bar bestellen und es selber zum Tisch bringen… Die schlipfige Treppe hinunter fanden wir einen Platz, war aber 15min speter wieder voll mit Leuten. Wir wollten eine Tischbeleichtung und hatten dort eine Kerze auf die Tisch gestellt - für die gressliche Atmosphäre etwas stimmiger zu machen. Kurz danach später kam der grimmige Kellner und nahm uns die Kerze mit einem anwiederdem Blick weg und sagt “hättet ihr lieber mal gefragt”… Das habe ich noch die erlebt, das ich angefiggt werde, weil ich mich im Kellerstock an einer Kerze für die Tischbeleuchtung bediene. Ich gehe dich wohl nicht nochmal hoch um an der Bar anzustehen und dann nach einer Kerze zu fragen. Sorry… bedienen können Sie nicht aber eine Kerze unten von einem Tisch zum anderen verschieben geht. Lächerlich… Haben uns ab da extrem unwohl gefühlt und nach austrinken driekt das gresliche...
